Little McCaffery's Status for Thursday

Every time I catch an Iowa game there seems to be a play where Lil' Mac gets fouled and he flails his arms wildly. In the replay they show him hitting the opponent in the eye, nose, karate chop to the neck or some other random act of violence. If the officials don't start calling it I think some of the players in the Big are going to start retaliating.

That would be glorious - I'd definitely tune in to watch that. However, it would end up hurting iowa's opponent more. If both the opposing player and Connor got kicked out of a game - it would improve Iowa's roster, and the opposing team would take a severe hit.

I watched that MSU game man lil macs move where he turns around 10 feet before the 3 point line, then goes to his right, then while dribbling!, turns around and goes the other way is ELECTRIC.

I find this hilarious. You pay more attention to Hawk basketball than their 1000s of fans.

I have to admit I got a chuckle out of this too. I don't pay attention, but here are three statistics and one personal observation that can only come from viewing the games.

With that said, in my own personal observations I've yet to find anything Connor does well. Not quick, can't shoot, won't guard. Decent free throw percentage though, so he's got that going for him.

Right now at best they have 4 fringe power 5 players. At worst every single guy is mid major caliber. Make of Cook what you will but his game is full of holes. They can beat ISU the next 5 years in a row and it will do nothing to change their lack of horsepower. Basketball is a funny game like that. The hockey line changes are completely indefensible. Honestly with so many bodies thrown out there and their tissue paper defense, they might as well start putting people on their back instead of just watching people score. Very limited squad. And yes, I for one freely admit I'm paying attention.

I haven't been paying attention but is Fran catching some heat for playing the entitled one so much? He's shooting 35% from the floor and 8% from 3 (8%!!!) and he's still getting 20 mpg? He is a very poor defender from what I've seen so I'm curious why he would be getting so many minutes

I have paid almost no attention to those guys. If it's on at a bar, I will watch, but I couldn't tell you who is who other than Garza.

I think Weiskamp is 30? He seems like a nice kid, I was flipping through channels last night and he was on B1G channel as I was passing by, but I stopped for a minute. He had a bunch of family members there for the MSU game. You could really see how young these kids are and how much losses hurt. Just another reason for us adults to stop bagging on these guys.

If the 3-point shots aren't falling, and the blast-into-the-lane-and-hope-you-get-fouled game isn't fooling that night's officials, then the Hawkeye offense turns into a real **** show. And with no defense, who are they going to beat?

I saw about 10 minutes of the second half, but did see him go in for a layup. He came in, drew contact, put the layup up and with the off hand came down hard and poked the MN player in the eye and raked his face. I have never seen a player throw their free arm out completely sideways and slam it down hard during a layup.

i was surprised that did not get a look on the monitor. All his momentum is going towards basket but yet one arm goes back to whack a Gopher in the nose???? Would have been Conner's 2nd flagrant for the game. . Refs tried hard not to give Fran a T yesterday.

He doesn’t even have enough respect from the officials for them to give him a T when he wants one.

How can a coach allow a player to continuously shove and pull on others in the tip off without correcting it?

Would like to see if my intuition was accurate about his behavior. Dude looked like a pos earlier in the season...must be holding up.

a few times Fran was basically asking to be T'd up. That portion that he caused a dead ball to last an extra like 4 minutes of real time he should've been

You could even call it magic.

Saw him dribble around and try a shot and get rejected at chest level about like I used to if I thought I should take it in the lane. Similar results except I understood that I wasn't good eventually.

One guess who took it down- Rob Howe How dare anyone talk bad about a player?

Cook had a lot of negative comment come his way about his point guard playmaking ability along with free throw shooting and his lack of an outside (of 2') shoot. He is really adding to his resume for the NBA. Wonder if his free throw made it on ESPN's "not top 10"?
