I’m not sure why you think prohm is so inferior to hoiberg. Results are similar.
I don't think I've set up a straw man argument here, since the entire thread is about this topic.
Also, please find a post by me complaining about last nights game or suggesting that I am not happy about winning.
And if it's not about basketball, what are you claiming I am actually upset about? Because I have no idea what you are talking about.

I've not tried to keep up with all these posts, but I see the OP's point about those who have it in for Prohm and seem to compare him to the perfect, strawman coach, who doesn't exist - for some, that is still Freddie. Freddie did great when he was here and was the perfect fit at that time. I'm glad we have Prohm now - much better long-term fit for college.
I still find things to nitpick every game, and for this one, it would have to be the continued disaster of our inbounds plays. It's actually shocking how bad our results are here. I expect Prohm will figure it out.... I'd also pick on our on-the-ball D, which was just bad, but our team D was excellent and is much better than it's been for years.
Stepping back, who could have thought we'd win tonight when we shot so poorly? Only Shayok (in 1st half) and Babb could throw the ball in the ocean. Team D and, surprisingly, rebounding, won this game for us - along with hitting some key shots/FTs at the end, which we didn't do last Sat. That's how a team wins on the road against a very-good TT team. If we, esp. Wigginton & THT, can actually start to shoot a decent %, we'll be very tough to beat. If that doesn't change, it will continue to be a mercurial conference season.

Did we really close it out though? Last night we more or less survived because Tech couldn’t put a run together.
Some of the posts on CF just crack me up. Losing to K-state by a point means Prohm is on the chopping block to some of you. Does that mean the likely HOF coach at OU should be fired immediately since his top 20 team just got beat by 13 at home by K-state? With Dean Wade K-state is probably a Sweet 16 team. If you asked me before the season if I would take 13-4 with 2 top ten wins and 3-2 in the conference I would have signed up in a heart beat. That is without knowing we would have 3 starters missing a bunch of time due to injuries and suspensions.
Would you rather have a coach be great at drawing up in bounds plays that you use 1/2 a dozen times a game or a coach that is good at coaching defense which you use 1/2 of the game? Any comments on our rebounding from the Prohm haters? I thought it was excellent last night. A little tweaking on the in bounds plays and maybe everyone can be happy. Go Clones.

So when we win the other team just played bad. And when we lose it's who we are? Did it ever occur to you that maybe the reason they couldn't put together a run was because of our guys? The only other blemish on Tech's record this season was against Duke.......by 9. And they have only lost 5 games at home since their new coach arrived. I would say our guys had something to do with it.
It may not be you, so I apologize if it wasn’t, but there is a sect here that is exactly what the op was talking about. And they live in straw man world.
One guy said he was done, just couldn’t take it anymore. He will be back to lose his mind when we lose at Allen on Monday.
It’s amazing that a guy who loves it here, has had success equal, and in many cases greater than the history of this place takes so much grief.
I'm sticking to my guns. Prohm knows how to game plan and make in game adjustments at halftime. However, down the stretch once again we allow a team back in the game. We start to take the air out of the basketball while standing near half court to run the shot clock down. Got to stay on the gas through the end and that game is won by 8 or 10 points.
This is not about Coach Prohm vs. some other coach for some other team.
As soon as the next loss happens, we'll have all kinds of people blaming the ISU players (mostly calling out individual players for a poor performance). But as soon as someone dares be critical of the coaching staff that is getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars a year (or millions in Prohm's case), then we're all haters who do not understand basketball...

My issue with the Prohm disdain is not that people voice their criticisms, but rather that I think they put a lot of the blame on Prohm when it shouldn't solely rest on his shoulders. Example: People don't like his out of bounds stuff out of timeouts, but last night all I could do was be annoyed with our players effort. You run almost any designed play, hard (hard cut to separate from man, full speed, hard screen, either roll or cut to your spot always expecting a pass) and the play will have someone open. Those are things the players need to do themselves. Does Prohm maybe not preach hard cuts and hard screens? Sure, it could be a possibility, but I have never known a coach that does not preach those things..so I doubt it.
People can be upset and voice their opinions, the "sky is falling" shtick after every loss is tiresome however, and I can understand how people like the OP let it all out after a solid win. Goes both ways I guess, but the story here is to not overreact to every little thing as if its a standard or regularity, because it's not. It's basketball, and there will be peaks and valleys. This team is talented and has the potential to be special, but still plenty of stuff to figure out before we reach our ceiling

There are multiple ways to close out the game.
Listening to the guy doing color, towards the end of the game he said Iowa State is getting open looks just not converting them.
And didn't they hit 2 buckets there after the game was tied, one coming off a blocked shot for a layup at the other end.
Not sure what defines closed out I guess.maybe someone can explain it.

Is this a serious question? They went on a 7-0 run to tie it up and had all the momentum with their crowd going nuts. Unless we watched a completely different game, yes we closed it out and didn't get the game handed to us.
See this is the issue at hand. “Well we closed it out but it wasn’t closed out correctly or perfectly”.
It’s a road game in the big 12 in a pretty hostile spot with a team that was absolutely flying before they ran in to us. Why are people so insane about basketball? Is it just a lack of knowledge? I know that many here I would describe as “football people” so maybe the lack of knowledge and understanding of basketball causes people to lash out when things don’t go how they think they should go.

Players make the plays. Nick had a wide open 3 Saturday, and it didn’t go in. Lindell had a 1 and 1 to go up 3 Saturday, and he missed it.
And to continue on pointing out the complete and total stupidity of your post, there was an entire threads dedicated to Lindell, and Mike with plenty of shots taken at them veiled by prohm hate by the same people from your cult.

I've been critical of Prohm in some instances, but that stat is pretty much a mic drop. What Prohm has built so far since arriving in Ames is just as good, if not better, than his predecessors. At the end of the day we're spoiled compared to what this program has seen for decades.
