My wife and I are looking at a spring break trip to Orange Beach, AL. We have 3 girls ages 15,12 and 10. From what I have read, it is not a big college spring break destination. Anyone been there over spring break? How is the weather in March? Any advice on things to do?

Thanks

There will be a lot of college kids running around partying. It’s right next to Gulf Shores.

Also, it’ll be a lot cooler than you’re anticipating.

Went to Orange Beach last summer. Would check out the air and naval museum in Florida. It is free and has a bunch of old planes. Not sure if young girls would like but most adults would and I am cheap.

It is a fun place. Lower Alabama (LA) or as they call it the Redneck Riviera. Temp is probably hit or miss that time of year. Lots to do and great beaches. I would guess there will be plenty of young spring breakers.....

I live about 40 minutes from there, and depending on what you are looking for can have a lot of fun.

Places to Eat
- The Gulf
- Cobalt $$$ (but best restaurant in the area)
- Anchor and Bar
- Big Fish Restaurant
- Lulu's in Gulf Shores

Things to Do Around Gulf Shores
- Mini Golf / Go Karts in Gulf Shores
- Gulf State Park (Hiking, Ride Bikes)
- Naval Museum in Penscaola is fun
- Alligator Alley in Summerdale
- Flor-a-bama (during day just to experience)
- Fort Morgan then ferry to Fort Gaines
- Estruarium in Dauphin Island
- USS Alabama in Mobile
- Downtown Fairhope - Lots of restaurants and shops

Fairhope is a neat little town. I am friends with the owner of Old 27 Grill there and he also makes great small batch bacon call Bill E'sss Small Batch Bacon. He uses Iowa Hogs for his product.

They also have a nice little Zoo and a water park. Beaches are great, do the one at the State Park it is awesome. Zip lines and plenty of great restaurants. We rented cataraman called Wildhearts it was awesome. I have been there a number of times over the last 35 years and it is bigger and busier but always fun.

Spent a lot of time in that area as a kid. Aunt had a house on Ono Island by Gulf Shores.
Pretty affordable area from what I remember.

My parents made us spend an afternoon at Ft. Morgan, it was the most bored I’ve ever been in my life.

If it’s military hardware you like, stop in Mobile and check out the battleship Alabama. They also have a submarine, B52, SR71, and numerous other aircraft, tanks, etc. Temperatures can be iffy, but gorgeous beaches and plentiful seafood.
