I guess Iowa's collapse will start in March this year...

Plenty of kids transferred out during Lick's time....some starters. That was a toxic environment.

Not a huge Fran fan here by any means....I think his faults are more X's and O's and recruiting related. Player relations aren't his problem.
Man, Little Lick. That was funny to watch.

It's not like Fran hasn't had guys transfer out. Who were the Iowa born players that transferred out under Lick?

Holy Crap; if they finish 5-15 in conf, it would be one epic collapse. A few others I recall:

+ TCU was 13-0 nonconf and won only 4 conf games a few years back.
+ Wasn't UT was 17-0 #2 in 2010 and fininshed 24-10 losing to an 8-seed
+ of course the Iowa 2015 meltdown was memorable.
+ Didn't AZ State go from #3, beating KU, to not making the tourney a couple years ago ??
I know no one wants to remember but ISU was 23-3 on a 10 game winning streak as the season wore down in 2001. They needed one win to clinch a share of the league title. They proceeded to lay an egg against Texas by almost 20, play poorly but win against 3-11 Tech at Hilton and then trail again at Hilton at the half but win against a 7-8 Nebraska team who was playing without Kimani Ffriend. They took the #1 seed into the Big 12 tournament and promptly lost convincingly to 8 seed Baylor (shooting 31 percent in the process) and then made 15 seed Hampton's century in the first round of the dance.

You can't be serious. There is a direct correlation between Fran's recruiting and the state of UNI's basketball program... Seriously, outside of Cook, who has Fran really recruited?
Did you read my post? I said one of his faults was recruiting.

You are correct, we do not want to remember that.

Yes, he got in a players face 5 years ago. Must mean he does that on a regular basis.

You can dig up more. All I'm saying is that if this was a regular occurance players wouldn't be sticking around and from what I hear and see...it isn't.

Plenty of things to bash Fran about and I have my beef's...this aspect is way overblown IMO.
I disagree. Most kids stay with Fran because they really wouldn't have an opportunity at a Major Conference level.

The biggest donor at Iowa loves him and Barta. He's not getting fired after his contract extension even if they lose out

I agree, I don't think they fire him either but you said they can't afford it and that's simply not true.

i just can't get enough of fran's stubbornness. he really thinks he can get these under the radar, lower ranked recruits, and win in the big 10.

can't wait for next year's starting line up of mccaffery 1, boh, weis, mccaffery 2, and garza.

that poor toussant kid is going to come in and iowa fans are going to expect russell westbrook. h

I actually agree with this. Fran seems to have a very good relationship with his players. His on the court demeanor to refs and opposing teams is obliviously lacking and borderline offensive. Many assume he is the same to his players but we would see transfers and reports if he acted that way 24-7 to his team.

The issue is Fran and the the players may be too loyal and recruiting misses. Fran has recruited flawed mid major type players up and down the roster and instead of recruiting over them to fix the weaknesses he keeps them for 4 years plays them crunch minutes believing he can scheme/develop them to hide the flaws. It is fine in the non-con when the playing the mid majors and teams that are unfamiliar with EIU abilities but once he hit league play and P5 coaches have the players to expose the weaknesses leading to the January/February swoon and poor B10 tourney record. Appears to be happening yet another year with 0-3 in the big 10.

Anybody see Dailey last night right before half? He threw up a shot with 6 seconds left that had no chance and Purdue went down and scored an easy basket.

Unreal you make it to this level of basketball and you don't understand the concept of not letting the other team have the ball back before half. I've never seen anything like that before.

So many schools were sniffing around him and wanted to offer him but his JUCO coach wouldn't accept any offers from anyone but Iowa on him
His career bests in minutes, points, FGA, threes, 3PA, assists, rebounds.....

....against Coppin State!

There's a reason his recruitment went the way it did

Then he airballed another 3 later that skimmed the net, he looked at the ref for a foul to be called. Pure comedy.

I was against Dolph ripping players at first but Im all for it now, these guys suck badly.
