Graham Couch: Iowa Basketball is a mid-major roster

You don't know how this works. We're going to continue to make fun of Iowa all season long. One game in a rivalry doesn't change the trajectory of either team.
This, exactly. Think ISU FB in 2002. We were enjoying success, beat the Hoks, and then watched while we imploded and they got better throughout the season & had a far better post-season/bowl game. I think this is what happens this year (just like 2 years ago). They can have scoreboard, as long as we get NCAA!
It stings & stinks that we lost to that classless act of a team (BTW, the "extracurricular stuff" really started when Pemsl was out there and the ref totally botched the call - should have been a block on Pemsl NOT a charge on THT - which led to more jawing by Pemsl & the ensuing scrum). THT and Jacobson have to sit and Iowa goes on what really proved to be a critical run - the momentum totally changed there! ISU also didn't show great sportsmanship - but Steve is about doing the right thing & I think he hit his boiling point when Iowa's physical sh!t was generally ignored & ticky tack stuff was called against us.
This will be a good learning experience for this team - how we need to not lower ourselves to the classlessness of Fran, the entitled one, and PEMSL; how FT shooting can really impact a game (we missed WAY TOO MANY in this game); and how we need to REBOUND the ball!
One thing that encouraged me in the 2nd half? Lard seemed to play with much more fire and upped his defensive play - he was much more in sync with his teammates in the 2nd stanza. If he continues to improve each game - we should soon see a dominating Cam!

So, Iowa didn't play well above what they've looked, and didn't play a player who's supposed to be out for the season? And ISU played well?

Kudos to Iowa, but let's not act like someone like Moss is going to do that regularly.

Obviously that kind of performance isn’t going to be a regular occurrence. But on the flip side, don’t act like that was some kind of otherworldly performance from Moss that he will never repeat, because he had games like that on numerous occasisions last year.

Pretty low key game for Fran actually.

Prohm on the other hand.....channeling his inner Fran tonight

Yeah he's usually pretty good at getting himself in check when he starts to get heated but got away from that a bit.

I always imagine he swears like Ned Flanders.

Fair enough...

It also should be noted you guys went to the foul line more than the Hawks and still got smoked. Wouldn’t have called that

Did you not see Connor throw an elbow at the beginning of the play? Like I said that ending had everything to do with earlier in the game between Connor and Jacobson before Pemsl decided to escalate things.

Throw an elbow? Don’t be so melodramatic, he gave a light shove to get Shayok and Jacobson off him. He was getting swarmed and fouled by two Iowa State players in a double digit game with five seconds left. A little shove to get the defenders off him is warranted.

ISU is always bad at free throws. With the lead Cook was able to do his, uh, 'driving' in to get fouled. Same with little Fran.

Little Fran is going to get himself in some real **** at some point though.

Jacobsen needs to knock his **** off too.

Fran hasn’t gone ballistic on the sideline in years. Regardless, he wasn’t the coach chasing after the opposing team after the game, that was Prohm. I’m genuinely curious to know what he was so upset about.

Probably to attempt Jacobson from getting the T...

In what world did Connor start anything? He had two Iowa State players fouling him down double digits with five seconds left, and you could clearly see that Shayok was talking ****. What was he supposed to do in that situation- hand the ball over to Iowa State?

For the same reason Jacobson got a T in the first half; reacting....

I actually really like Connor, yes. He doesn’t take **** from anybody, and the fact that you guys hate him so much already makes him all the more endearing.

You mean just like you hate Niang, minus the skills?

Numerous?

The very beginning of the play. Not when they were just standing there.

Hawks were way more thuggish tonight than Thug Lyfe ever was.
Hey little Benji, you probably don't even know who "Thug Lyfe" was since you are probably 12 years old. The worst he ever did was make a throat slash after lighting up the fighting Franwiches. He never shoved anyone.

Sure didn't see your ass around here when the Thugeyes were getting their asses handed to them by Michigan State or beaten by Wisconsin. Go ahead and swagger it up. I'll put money on it right now--ISU will have a better season.

They’re gonna need extra security in Hilton next year

Of course the grad student and his father are here to talk ****.

They’re just like the McCafferys. Low life to the extreme and jerkoffs to the end.

Lot of hawks disagreeing with my post but any willing to admit they beat a half strength ISU team? Surely tonight gave you enough confidence to attempt a response?

Yeah, he’s on the most likely to get trucked list. Pull that crap against an undisciplined team, and he will.

Yep, after all the brawling and hok crazy 3's, it came down to us missing FTs. Not a complete surprise other than it was the upper classmen missing them.

I sense this was a twilight zone game that won't affect either teams trajectory.

are you saying he is.... entitled to dribble out the ball? ba dum tssss

I just assume little McCaffrey was acting like a little ***** all night because that's his nature. Some of the ISU players let it get to them. Notice how every time something happened he was in the middle of it?
