Solomon Young Groin Injury?

Didn't see anything posted here, but maybe I missed it.. saw the article on DM register just now.

How long is he out? Or is this news to fresh?

I heard about it last week - I know he sat out Hilton Madness. This is what 247 reported today - most of the article anyway - (largely recycling the Ames Trib's article):

Iowa State's frontcourt depth may have taken an early hit after forward Solomon Young suffered a groin injury last week during practice.

The Ames Tribune reported Friday that Young suffered a groin strain, and Tuesday an Iowa State spokesperson told CycloneAlert that Young has been referred to a specialist 'for an extensive evaluation of a groin injury.' Young has had a tough go since the end of last season. The 6-foot-8 forward started 26 games for the Cyclones during the 2017-18 season before suffering a meniscus tear in his left knee that required surgery and ended his season prematurely. Young finished that sophomore campaign averaging 7.2 points and 5.9 rebounds.

Young's groin injury, sustained Oct. 10, could potentially sideline him for some time.

I'm guessing he won't be ready for the early part of the season. It's a good thing we have Jacobson to add depth to the frontcourt. If you assume that 4 of the starters will be Shayok, Wigginton, Weiler-Babb and Lard, I wonder who that leaves for the other spot? Could be Jacobson. Is THT that far along? It'll be interesting to see.

Too bad for Solo and the team. Fortunately we have Jacobson coming back this year. Hope he can recover in time to play this year.

Welp that is disappointing hope he heals up fully and returns in good condition.

Hopefully ready by the start of 2019 would be my guess. 6-8 week heal then a couple weeks of work to get back in shape.

I'd be surprised if he wasn't needing surgery and out for a long period of time, maybe the whole season

Groin/Hamstring/Quad strains, while minor, can linger. Dalvin Cook strained a hammy in week 2 of the NFL season and hasn't really played since. And although I'm nowhere near a college level athlete, I've been dealing with a lingering hamstring problem for months... let's hope Solo gets back soon, we'll need him.

Scuttlebutt around media day was the starters at the beginning of the season will probably be NWB, Wigginton, Shayok, THT and Lard. Talley, Jacobson, Lewis and Young (when healthy) first off the bench. Also wouldn't shock me to see Conditt off the bench for spot minutes while Young is out.

Haven't heard much on Griffin yet, but he's got a lot of talent in front of him, so might be tough to see consistent minutes this year. Same thing with Haliburton.

There is talk on another board that he may be done for the year.

I have heard several times from media on the radio that Haliburton was likely to see playing time. Also heard yesterday that Talley broke his nose and is out 4 to 6 weeks and can wear a mask after that.
