Biggest disadvantage in the CyHawk Series since 1980

I suspect that now the team will have an extra day to prepare for Iowa because they will not need a rest/recovery day, which I am pretty sure they take every week.

There’s still a limit on the number of hours the staff can spend with the team during the week.

I don’t treat CFN as gospel but will be interested to read predictions on this game all week.

It sounded like the NLU QB was way on the far side of sucking, and I think KK is actually pretty good, and might be one of the best QBs Iowa will face all year. That will make a huge difference when it comes to the Hawk defense. DM is probably way better than the NLU running backs too.

No doubt Kempt/Montgomery will be much better than the NIU combo.

It is what it is and I hope we don't use it as an excuse if we lose. If we truly have the better team we win this game despite what happened Saturday. And you damn well know if Iowa loses this game they'll use the excuse of not having enough game film on us from game 1 so either way both fan bases are probably whining about it. It would have been nice to knock off the rust and get some experience in before this game but hopefully with it being a rivalry game the guys are fired up and have a little more bounce to their step with the added rest.

Ok Cloney, don’t you think it’s possible tha Wisconsin is a tougher team than ISU? That Ferentz wouldn’t take a loss to ISU in return for a win over the Badgers, who Iowa plays two weeks later? A team tha is ranked above Oklahoma. Why is this Iowa's Super Bowl? There are nine more important games on the schedule for Iowa than ISU.

This is what I've tried telling Iowa fans for years except with different teams or at least situations where ISU has gone on to play more complete than they did in week 2.

And Iowa's done the same too, but I'm pretty sure they've had some complete duds mid-season as well.

I know for a fact they'll pull it out this week even though there's hard evidence with ISU beating two top 5 ranked teams last season.

And Iowa fans NEVER used that narrative until ISU won a few times, and NEVER complained about playing the game until ISU won a few times. It creates this idea that it takes some monstrous effort to beat Iowa when it really doesn't take much outside of needing to play sound and have a bit of talent.

To think of it being one team's biggest game, just go to the 2012 game to see two bad teams trying their best to lose, haha. 2013 wasn't much better iirc.

It has nothing to do with CMC having them ready to go. Anyone who is playing an opponent who has a game under their belt when they don't is at a monsterous disadvantage

Why? I just don't think it's that clear cut. If we are going to look at improvement from Game 1 to Game 2 how about we also look at improvement off a bye week, which this more-or-less was?

I mean it's a pretty standard narrative by coaches teams improve the most from week 1 to week 2 so I would say that's a much bigger improvement than a bye week

Is it Iowa that tends to struggle with mobile QB's? (of course, so does everyone else). Kempt is not light footed.

I'd think Butler over the top would be an issue but Iowa may get numbers.

I was shocked that NIU didn't try to go deep more but they also ran a dive right after blocking a punt.

"Standard narrative from coaches" is far from a stated fact. This is just something coaches say. For a good team, it shouldn't matter one bit.

I'm sorry, but what this adds up to is a guy who talks **** about Iowa 365 days a week trying to fabricate an excuse if we lose. It looks pathetic. If we lose we lose because they outscored us. That's all. Concocting excuses 5 days before the game is just unnecessary.

A full game of actual reps shouldn't matter if a team is good? Lol what are you even talking about? It's a huge deal, especially to players like Newell, Rose, our safeties, etc

Just call it what it is-- an excuse you can make for the next 364 days in your never-ending dialogue with YeahBuddy in the event we lose. will say, it's kind of crafty to creative your own narrative you can use in that event. But it's not hard to see what you are doing.

Better let Jay Jordan, Jack Whitver and Jeff Woody know about this too since they have the same "narrative" as I do that we're at a disadvantage from missing week 1

Then they all share the losers mentality that I was hoping we were getting close to being over. I sure hope the guys in the locker room aren't sitting around thinking of reasons why we are going to lose 5 days before the game as well.
