Biggest disadvantage in the CyHawk Series since 1980

It's definitely debatable how big of an advantage it is for Iowa. It's been since 1980 a team has had an advantage either way though so I don't think saying the biggest advantage in series history is that outlandish

Yes it is outlandish. In fact it is beyond that. It is moronic. I am guessing you were not alive for the 80s and most of the 90s. Iowa had MUCH bigger advantages back then. They were called TALENT and COACHING.

That is no longer true. The team that wins will be the team that makes the most plays. Period. That is generally what happens when two similar teams play.

I would tell you to relax but you are one of those Cyclone fans that almost relishes the sky falling on them.

I'm talking a disadvantage that neither team has control over. I'm far from the sky is falling type of fan, if anything I'm usually too optimistic

You’re contradicting yourself.
In your first post you said the only acceptable measure is the final AP poll.

Well the final AP poll last year was ISU getting 36 votes and Iowa getting 2.
Therefore, by your standards ISU was the better team last year.

Then you go on to add a couple more measureables such as: “Iowa beat ISU in Ames” and “Iowa was playing better in November”.

So which is it? The final AP poll or should we keep adding measureables to determine the better team?

I was trolling @CyTwins with the post in which I said AP is the only thing that counts. I should have put the sarcasm emoji in there.

Are we walking into this game with the biggest disadvantage ever in the series?

Not quite what you said in your original statement... You are not an optimistic fan. You might think you are, but you are not. The very fact that you have no confidence in this team or our coaches shows everyone that. You are making excuses so if we lose you can say I told you so...

I'm a very optimistic fan. I thought we were an NIT caliber basketball team this last year! I was picking Iowa to win this game with or without this advantage only because of KF and how their program emphasizes this game. There is no question we're the more talented and better coached team (just like we were last year and lost)

You never answered my question...
It’s a wash...not much of an advantage IMO. Hawks have no game film of whatever your new OC :) may have installed. Only a very insecure fan would use this as a excuse and to create a thread about it is quite frankly...sad.

You really would rather have Iowa opening up with ISU this weekend instead of having a whole game under their belt?

I'm really surprised you think that way honestly
I just don’t see it as that big a deal. If I see some hard evidence that it’s actually a disadvantage I’ll change my opinion. It’s all opinion st this point.

Actually, its an excuse. Sad that you feel the need to come up with excuses before the game is even played. YIKES!!!!

Any thoughts on all the Iowa fans that will no doubt be spewing 'Iowa State's Super Bowl' talk on social media all week to make up for the fact that ISU simply has good players?

Are we walking into this game with the biggest disadvantage ever in the series? It's common knowledge teams improve the most from week one to week two. I can't think of any other time where either team had the deck stacked against them like this. Damn lightning
Myth- Jim Walden believed that, Nick Saban disputes it. Given the way that bye weeks are now a part of the schedule, I don't think we can declare week 2 to be the biggest window of growth. No question it is an important week and teams can have one of their better weeks to develop but it is no longer a given as THE biggest week of growth.

I even heard CMC even say something similar at a Cyclone Club luncheon last season.

More than made up for with all the “Iowa’s Super Bowl” talk on this board.
