Iowa Football Recruiting

Of course it does.
I had to explain to a poster, about how the class rankings work last year. And they were vehement in the fact that the more recruits you had did not allow for a better ranking, because it all has to do with average. Go figure that it was Iowa who had the more recruits and better ranking.

I was told that there was no way they would do that because it slants the rankings then. Good to know I now have confirmation from an in-the-know recruiting follower. Field Goal can't move on this one any more.

They may have been talking about Rivals. They only count your top 20 ranked recruits when calculating their team rankings.

That was before Iowa accepted a commitment from a stud JUCO All-American RB that Petrino wanted really badly.

Have to keep up with Blair:

Yeah, we reported in January that Iowa stopped by to visit Sargent. They told him at the time they'll stay in touch and see if anything opens up. Louisville was in a similar situation and ended up offering him a blue shirt in April, but filled their spot before he could accept it. Iowa might end up doing something similar, having him walk-on for a year and go on scholarship in 2019. Or he may end up on scholarship yet this year.

Sargent will have 3 years to play 3.

Louisville offered him a blue shirt in April, but filled their spot before he could take it. UNI and New Mexico State offered last December.

Scholarship is TBD last I heard, but good chance he ends up getting one sooner or later.

I’m aware of that, Twins. You are doing the same thing with guys like Purdy, Hall, Brock, etc. Maybe I should switch to talking about how elite of a recruit Waggoner was instead, and how badly Harbaugh, Meyer, and Franklin wanted him. Trollololololol.

I remember that conversation as well. We also pointed out that we took a punter and kicker, which brought down our total ranking, especially coupled with a small class.

Well the punter and kicker are part of your class if they received scholarships. You cant just throw them out because they drag the average player ranking down.

Waggoner almost didn't even get an Iowa offer and it's well documented. What a horrible comparison

It’s actually a pretty apt comparison. Very similar to Purdy not having a committable offer from Alabama; Hall not having committable offers from Michigan or Nebraska; and Brock not having committable offers from Notre Dame, Iowa, or Purdue. Yet here you are, trolling away and pretending like you don’t already know that.

Waggoner got all the offers like two years before he committed. That's a terrible comparison.

Purdy was at Alabama right before signing day, Notre Dame wanted Brock to wait to sign to see how things played out and he turned down Iowa and Purdue. Hall's offer list and film is insane

Purdy “dropped” Alabama from his list when Alabama wouldn’t tell him whether he could commit or not (meaning obviously he couldn’t). Notre Dame wanted Brock to wait and see, meaning he didn’t have a committable offer, and Purdue and Iowa dropped Brock, not the other way around. Nicely done avoiding the issue on Hall, because you know he didn’t have committable offers from Michigan or Nebraska.

Doesn’t matter when the offers came; if they are non-committable when the player is ready to commit, what good does an “offer” do?

The fact you believe Iowa and Purdue dropped a player like Brock explains a lot

Iowa and Purdue both had multiple backs they were recruiting and at some point only had so many spots open. They approached their targets and told them of their situations and asked where they were at with their decision making. Once each school thought they were full they told the remaining prospects that they would need to look elsewhere.

Not sure why you are struggling with this so much.

Hi Little Brother,

How was your nap the last few days? It was sure peaceful around here. Now you do know, you shouldn't be using work time to troll on a cyclone forum, right?

There is a difference between telling a recruit of their situation and telling them the situation and trying to force them to make an immediate decision.

Love,
Big Brother (DerpyHerky)
