Iowa -7 vs ISU

You celebrate the little victories when you are an isu fan. Good job buckaroo.

I think winning at #3 OU and then beating #5 TCU three weeks later were pretty big victories.

ISU being the only school of the two to beat two top 5 ranked teams (when they were ranked--Hokdom loves to point at numbers) in the season is pretty good.

But you're right. ISU's history is bad. Which makes Hokdom that much more pathetic for going to an ISU site to talk their Hoks up. Why aren't you at OSU or Michigan's sites?

I'm not arguing with you on the importance of Iowa's TE game, clearly it is important. I do think that if they had better options at WR the past few years then maybe the numbers wouldn't be as good. Regardless, they consistently have good TE's

The TE spot is also important at ISU and under CMC but til this point it has mostly been as blocking TE's (hence why Allen got all-conference). Soehner & Seonbuchner also are good blockers.

I don't know if they will try to get the TE's more involved in the passing game or not, but like I mentioned with their lack of recruiting #'s there it appears not.

ISU WR corps will have 6'6 Butler, 6'4 Matt Eaton, & DeShaunte Jones back as contributors from last year, with 6'3 Jalen Martin, and a host of others competing for time (including freshman 6'3 Joey Scates, and 6'6 Sean Shaw). They also have two 6'5 receivers and a 6'4 receiver committed, so that appears to be the route they're going moving forward.

Wish they would. Allen didn't see many throws last year but had a couple of great catches.

I’d wager he is more involved in the passing game this season. Pretty easy assumption given he’s got a year of experience combined with the departure of Lazard.

You keep talking about the NFL. Dude, the thread here is focused on IA vs ISU.
This thread is all over the place. The most recent argument is that Allen is better than the best (or one of the best) TEs in the country. We can start there. Thoughts?

That's a lot of height. I'll give Campbell the benefit of a doubt. He has more football knowledge in his pinky than both of us combined. It will be interesting to see how things play out.

Not every school just turns every 6'6" kid into an OT like Iowa does. Some kids' frames will not take that kind of weight gain in a healthy way, but Iowa doesn't care about health as we found out with the whole Rhabdo thing. Winning>kids health at Iowa.

And as it's been pointed out to you over and over again, Chase Allen is a great TE already, so why would you move him? Last year the TE's were not involved in ISU's passing offense much because they were so loaded at WR. That could change this year, or maybe not, who knows? I can tell you this though, the blocking provided by Allen and Seonbuchner was huge last year.

The rhabdo incident wasn't a bright spot for Iowa, I can agree with that. On the other hand, Doyle is one of the best in the business.

Good, that would be really dumb for someone to argue that Allen is better than Noah Fant, who is the best TE in college football.

Pretty said the best TE in college football averaged 2 catches per game and lost a game for you guys. It's almost like the position is going away for most teams with the spread offense. Allen was second team though, Fant was third

See, statements like this is why you have no credibility.

I hate to break it to you herby, but there are a number of college football publications, analysts, and NFL draft sites that agree with me. It’s not a controversial opinion in the slightest.

If you would of said one of the best or possibly the best I wouldn’t of batted an eye at your statement.

I didn’t say he is definitively the best, or unquestionably the best. I said he is the best. Meaning I think he is the best. It just so happens that a lot of other people do, too. I don’t know how you could possibly be upset with that.

The fact is based on his performance last year he was a third team all conference performer. Chase Allen was second team which is better than third
