Iowa Football Recruiting

Just so we are clear here on the Purdy thing. Compared to Petras he was a lower ranked recruit according to 247 and Rivals, Stars dont matter it is who offered right?!

Petras - 19th in 247 12th in Rivals
Purdy - 36th in 247 NR in Rivals

BTW Alabama had a commit from an ATH that was a 4* that played QB in high school in the 2018 class
Looks to me like they should've just pulled the offer (or never offered on a late kid at all) if they already had two similar kids that they wanted. Waste of time.

So does that excuse it in your book?

Come on, I want to hear your thoughts on this. You usually are so quick to chime in when an Iowa coach, player or recruit tweets.
I'd still maintain the farmers insult was worse. That attacked a whole class of people instead of just one kid.

I'd have to imagine the verbiage used by Hohfer is commonplace in DM communication, if not even worse than that. What I can't figure out is the random ToE people all included in it. Why were these people all talking together in the first place?

Not sure how it happened.

You're comparing people purposely attacking a teammate to someone accidentally putting it public that they didn't offer a kid because he was underwhelming in competition? This is bad even for you

Your boy @Hawkmi1987 agreed with me that its not a swing and a miss.

The funniest part is a couple weeks ago you were mocking the Iowa HC's for not being active on Twitter and how much better KF would recruit if he used it. I think you said he would jump an average of 10 spots in the class rankings each year if he did, which is absurd.

You're an idiot if you don't want your HC to be on Twitter. Sorry I won't agree with you on that one

How do you know intent? It's funny **** for sure. Assistant Head Coach.

Getting all triggered about an Iowa coach making a factual statement about farmers (which was not in any way, shape, or form derogatory) is the pinnacle of snowflake Iowa State fan victim complex.

It's not factual, though. And therefore was insulting.

But hey, #ANF man! Iowa loves their (apparently uneducated) farm boys!

It was factual. The vast majority of farmers do not have college degrees. That is a fact. You do not need a college degree to make a successful living as a farmer. Also a fact. Having a college degree is absolutely helpful, but in no way is it necessary. To get triggered over someone saying that is silly. Attacked an entire class of people....lol cmon man.

I think part that bugs people is that (i don't remember the exact quote) but he comes off as just assuming that kids who want to study ag are farmers.

Many, many ag students have no intention of farming any time soon.

It's almost like you don't see the blatant hypocrisy of claiming 90% of farm kids don't want or need degrees, while maintaining the #ANF schtick (also while not even having an agronomy program). You apparently haven't seen ISU's Agronomy, Ag Business, or Ag Systems enrollment numbers lately. Hint: they don't back up the "9/10 farm kids don't need degrees" claim.

Like, that statement was objectively, measurably wrong -- as well as being stupid in concept. We had a thread somewhere here talking about this event when it happened, but I don't remember what the title of it was.

Link to 90% of farmers not having a college degree?

Right, a grown man publicly bashing a HS kid on social media that just received a scholarship offer isnt as bad as a couple of high school kids posting foolish things on Twitter.
What about on the radio when Fran calls Iowa fans idiots? Not a single one of those is under 18?

You have no idea who Fran was referring to in those comments. We know exactly who the ISU coach was referring to in his tweet. That is weak.

Why am I not surprised that you would be trying to rationalize the tweet made by the ISU coach?

How is that hypocritical? You can support farming (not going to get into whether ANF “actually helps farmers”) without thinking a college degree is necessary. The two are not mutually exclusive. What type of mental gymnastics must you do to think that those statements contradict each other?

You're a college telling a prospective student that a college degree is not necessary for people like them.

Give this some thought. Oh, and ANF is utter shite by the way, but I won't derail on that any further.
