Seems perfectly logical for a perennial top-five recruiter, one of the best coaches in the game, from the best program in the game, to take the time to send out a bunch of uncommitable offers and take visits from kids they don't even want.

Because Purdy himself said the staff wouldn’t tell him whether the offer was committable. Hypothetically, if you asked a girl you were seeing if the two of you were exclusive and she went out of her way to avoid saying yes, how would you interpret that?
That doesn't explain the "offer and visit very late in the cycle" part. Particularly from a top program.

It’s not logical that Alabama was slowplaying Purdy as a backup option, so they wouldn’t commit to Purdy when Purdy asked? That seems perfectly logical and seems to happen quite frequently in college football.
It’s the only logical interpretation of Purdy claiming the Alabama staff would not tell him if he had a committable offer.

What other interpretation logically stems from that? You think Alabama really wanted him badly, but decided their chances would be better if they kept Purdy guessing as to whether he had a committable scholarship offer?
