Graham Couch: Iowa Basketball is a mid-major roster

Lol, why, I'm just getting started. Penn St deserves a bid also?
Well, they beat Nebraska so...

Nebraksa is getting in at 13-5 or 14-4, I'll bookmark this prediction and check back selection Sunday.

I don't care how bad Big 10 sucks, a power 5 team with 14 conf wins is getting in.
If you look at SOR in ESPN's BPI it has generally been a good indicator of which teams will get in on the bubble. Nebraska's SOR is currently in the mid to high 30's.

Seems like BPI can be manipulated just like RPI critics complain about. Because they have one decent win and somehow that gets top 30.

I'm guessing the recipe is to play a weak but not horrible non-conf, then play in a major conference where you only play 2-3 games against top 25 teams. They were nothing special in non-conf, not at all.

See, this is the problem and why I hate these mega conferences now. With the unbalanced schedules it makes it almost impossible to distingush who are the better conference teams.

With the Big 12 and Big East there is no dispute, you are what your conf record says you are.

Now you're catching on.

BPI and KenPom have had Iowa above ISU almost all season. At this point it's a complete joke, I think we have 5 wins now better than their best win and our record is better against a stronger SOS.

They are both dramatically worse resume ranking tools than RPI is by the end of a season. It's not even close.

It's almost like the RPI heavily weighs your schedule too

Look at Kentucky's schedule, what do you see when you analyze It?

I see 2 decent wins over bubble teams Louisville and Va Tech in non-con. I see a good win at West Virginia but even Oklahoma st just pulled that off.

I see one win over Nit bound A&M, after that wins over bottom feeders and losses against everyone else with a pulse in a mediocre conference.

Thats worthy of being ranked 20th?

How do those wins compare to Nebraska's? Nebraska has one top 80 RPI win, one! Ketucky has 8!

Kentucky is also 20 spots ahead of Nebraska is KenPom if you are going to just stupidly ignore RPI
