*** Official Nebraska vs Iowa State “secret” scrimmage thread ***

You sure draw a lot of conclusions on a scrimmage.

Here's my observations:

1. We play an exhibition game next Sunday so I'll wait to make observations until a real game setting.

Against a vastly inferior opponent. Nebraska is, at least and more-or-less, picking on somebody our own size. I know I am reasoning a symphony out of one note, and I know how much game-to-game performance can vary even for great players over the course of an entire season, but, come on, it was for fun, and it is all we have right now.

I am glad we will have something to drink in terms of actual data the next few weeks.

I know some of you did not like the critical things that I said, but that box score was not the most encouraging at this stage. Focusing on the positives again -- DJack is a warrior and playing like the senior point guard that we are going to need him to be, Cameron Lard looks like an experienced sophomore, not a wet-behind-the-ears freshman, Beverly belonged on the court, and our offense seemed to click, even without the experience of Brase/Talley.

Assuming we get those two back and strong and Prohm can coach out some of the obvious mental errors in that box score, this team could be very competitive.

That’s a leap, on your part.

We’re an NIT team because we lost a ton. This scrimmage didn’t change that thought, nor would beating them by 8 change it.
Help me understand how being amused at fan overreactions of a scrimmage is a “leap”?

You’re correct if you’re insinuating that today’s scrimmage means nothing. Because it really doesn’t. It’s a day of practice. I for one am still excited as hell for this squad and what they can do this year.

I can almost guarantee Talley was dinged up with a minor injury and no sense risking anything. Just like Long at Hilton Madness.

I can only assume 1/2 of that came from your Oujia board Sig.

No surprise whatsoever that Brase didn't play. He might not play for a while with that knee.

However, Talley worries me a lot. Someone on here posted yesterday I think that a friend of theirs attended a recent practice and Talley wasn't in the starting 5 and Beverly was, so I wonder if Talley wasn't playing in that practice either? IMO, it sounds like maybe he's missed more than just this scrimmage? So is it injury or disciplinary? Both are big concerns, especially with being kicked off Old Dominion. We need Talley BAD this year.... and Brase too, if we want to sniff the NCAA tourney.

Coach Prohm isn’t shy about discipline. We’d be much more likely to hear about an injury. Or a full on suspension.

Count me among the very few that doesn’t think we are going to have a huge drop off... I’m going to get flamed but I think people over value last years senior class because we liked them so much. This will be a better team imo.
I like the attitude but there is no logical basis for thinking this will be a better team than last years.

My scooby doo sense is telling me he stayed out a little late celebrating the football win. Maybe showed up late today. Who knows? We definitely need him.
Who did he go out with though? The other guys weren't out partying hard

I think there is.Our gaurds didn’t figure out how to pass to the post until half way through conference play or until the coach actually had to force them to. It depends on how fast this team clicks, but I see this team more willing to play team ball sooner than mid conference. there’s no reason to think that last years team who was inconsistent and relied mainly on three point shooting Can’t be surpassed.
