***OFFICIAL IOWA/ISU WEEK THREAD***

Perhaps the Big 10 was happy enough to give him an accolade, but are you seriously touting a fanbased tweet about a fanbased vote for a fanbased award as proof your guy was good?

I may be wrong, but the fan based vote does not determine the 8 finalists, only the winner.

Stanley is a finalist and Park is not.

Stanley was, by far, the best QB on the field a couple of days ago.

Let's not get caught up on the hyperbole here. He got about half 1/2 his yards on one play, otherwise the run game wasn't that effective. Iowa's defense needs to figure a way to stop slipping all over natural turf. Jewell will need to get that groin healed up or he won't be very effective the rest of the year. I think Parker is finally figuring out that stubbornly staying in base 4-3 against these schemes puts undue pressure on the LBs/DBs. Especially if the DL is in contain mode.

Natural turf? Injured groin?

And you don't think those "finalists" are chosen for click value? They need to make money to pay for the Sugar Bowl. I'm sorry, but that one just doesn't fly. I enjoy bumping our guys up on fan based votes just as much as anyone else, but those awards say more about the fan base than they really do about the player/team. Try again.

Stanley was decent. He had issues, though.

Maybe he injured his groin & slipped on the turf here.

Wadley had no issues with the turf though when he jump-cutted like MC Hammer in his prime & then proceeded to torch our LBs & DBs.

Hok fans need to face it. Jewell & the LBs are very good when their DL can control the LOS & they can play downhill. When teams spread out & throw more, they become exposed.

I can face it now. Wadley is way better than I thought. Size may limit his durability & not running him too much inside will help. Reminds me of Warrick Dunn in late 90's from FSU

Thanks for the kind words but take a look at the other 7 finalists. Not exactly what you would call rabid football fan bases, with the exception of OU.

Oklahoma---big time program
UCLA---basketball school
Duke---basketball school
WVU- Derp
Louisville- basketball school
Central Michigan- Derp
Purdue- Derp

Keep reaching. There are a few more straws out there you haven't grabbed. If it is truly a "best of the best" set of finalists, there must be something about them. I'm assuming they are/will be first round draft picks or something like that. What makes all of them so "great"?

This was Stanley's SECOND game. Seriously, man - this justification by you is koolaid territory. Stanley may well turn out to be one of your best QBs ever, but for him to be a finalist as "best QB" after two games (but probably one, really), well...there really isn't a lot of evidence driving the website's choice.

Pretty sure this is weekly award and based off of last week's performance only. Do you even know what you are venting about?

Can any Hawk fan tell me a) who Montgomery trucked this play and b) what DB got schooled by Lazard? I honestly don't know either of them because I can't see their numbers.

Well, mostly I'm venting about the Hawkeye infestation, even after their big beatdown of the Cyclones in a game that really didn't matter to them.

The d back was Amani Hooker, not sure who the LB was that blitzed.

At least Lazard finally got in the end zone against Iowa although 6 catches for 23 yards is pathetic. He averaged as many yards per catch as Warren did per carry.

8 pass catchers for Iowa put up more yards than Lazard, including a fullback and 2 tight ends.

Yikes!

And yes, I missed the "weekly" part. Still think there wasn't enough evidence to vote him as the best QB of the week, other than a popular vote.

Are ISU fans really celebrating a running back getting an extra 2 yards as he gets tackled? Wow, I've heard of moral victories, but this takes the cake.

You guys beat off metaphorically on here and in literally private thinking about jewell. I mean, literally you do. He gets trucked and you try to diminish what really happened

What a bunch of pathetic insecure ignorant losers you are.
