IMO, ISU is better at QB, WR, and DB. RB spot is even. Iowa is better at TE, OL, DL, and LB.
With Iowa having the advantage at OL, DL, and LB... I think that's ultimately where the game is won nearly every time. ISU will be improved at OL and DL over last year, but not as good as Iowa. Until ISU can win, or at least get a stalemate, in the trenches on both sides, it will be very tough to win.
Iowa will run zone sweep right, zone sweep left all day until ISU starts creeping up to stop them, and then they will pull out a few play action passes on us for deep connections to their TE's. Happens every year. Boring to watch, but very effective when you control the trenches.

Both TE positions are unproven so I don't think you can give Iowa the nod there especially when we have a kid Harbaugh desperately wanted
Yep, I want to see line play versus UNI before I make any predictions on iowa. If our OL can dominate against UNI then I like our chances. It looks like iowa is searching for interior DL combos which means we could be able to run the ball even with their LB corp. They have a big void to fill with Johnson leaving and rumors are they have been moving DEs inside. If we can run then we can pass and the best way to beat iowa is to be balanced.
On defense...as always...stop their run game and you stop them. That is even more important this year as I just don't think they have the tools to move the ball through the air this year. Can our DL do that? Absolutely no clue because there are too many new faces.
They don't have a QB on their roster that can make that type of play this year.
We aren't ISU, we recruit and develop high level QB's. 3 of Iowa's last 4 QB's were drafted into the NFL. Both QB's competing for the starting spot were 4* recruits by at least one rating service, Iowa will be fine at QB. CJ made some pretty great plays vs ISU his first time playing at Jack Trice.

Yes it was. We had them. Totally had them. Jack Trice was going insane. We had Beathard for the safety, and he somehow escaped, and then inexplicably, and so ISU like, runs for 57 yards through the ISU defense.
The only thing that gave us just a little bit of momentum back going into the half was Iowa's inability to score on that drive when they faked the FG with 1 second left from the 22 yd line on 4th down. That was one of the worst calls I've ever seen by a coach. Granted, Koehn got 19 yds, so it nearly worked, but it was still just idiotic. Give up an easy 3 pts for the odds of your kicker running 22 yds for a TD.
But still.... that game was tied with 2:50 left in the game. Iowa scores, then kicks off, and Richardson throws an INT, and Iowa has it on ISU's 25 yd line, then easily goes in for their last score as ISU had nothing left at that point. Iowa fans always love to say they dominated us in that game looking only at the 14 pt win, but that's just them showing their stupidity. Any game that is tied with under 3 mins left is not being dominated by anyone.
Who we playing??? I just assumed we'd win all our patsy non-conference games. Been too focused on the Big 12 to even know.
So your'e saying Iowa is sitting just as good at QB as ISU is going into the year then? That's just idiotic. Maybe an Iowa QB will go on to having a better season than Park, who knows, but only an idiot would say the advantage at QB goes to Iowa going into the season.
Phil Parker said it's the best they've been up front since he's been there. Hak fans have really run with that statement. They've gone from tempered expectations to full-on ROSE BOWL mode again.

Iowa will obviously run for more yardage than ISU, that's what they do. I'm just talking RB talent. Put Montgomery or Warren on Iowa and they would thrive too, just like Wadley.
You don't rank your position group by just your best guy. If that were the case, Iowa's WR position would look great because of Vandenburg, but we all know they have nothing after him.
Wadley/Butler > Montgomery/Warren

Your starting QB Wiegers was a 3 star recruit who had P5 offers from Iowa and Rutgers. That is it. So much fail in this post.
