Iowa Football Recruiting

Or, you know, not losing to FCS teams on your own field. Or playing the North Texas' of the world. ISU isn't Iowa's problem.

ISU is absolutely the problem.

Iowa plays 10 P5 teams, which is as many or more than 85% of teams do. Everyone schedules 2 or 3 non P5 patsies, that isn’t the problem. The problem is ISU has been so terrible the last 4 years it seems like Iowa is play zero non con P5 teams.

If ISU could just be an ok team the Colin Cowherds wouldn't say anything about the schedule.

Yes, and ISU had a 6 win season that year. Clone fans everywhere said The ISU football program had passed Iowa's program. That ISU was on the upswing and Iowa was in a tailspin and The game had pass Ferentz by (you said this a lot). Fast forward to 2013 and ISU win 3 gamess, and hasn't won more than 3 games since 2012.
I believe the word used was trending..... Not passed.... But flashing back to than, our coach stopped recruiting and Ferentz put coaches around him that could make up for him not wanting to recruit. Good talk....

So today's delusion is that isu is bad because CPR simply choose not to recruit. Now that is a new one.

North Texas played in a bowl game last year. isu went 3-9 again.

Yikes, isu clearly the worst team on Iowa's schedule last year.

Cowherd was trolling Iowa's OOC schedule a year before Iowa lost to NDSU.

Nerve = struck.

The quality of recruiting went way down under CPR, he tried to make a bigger push at the end of his tenure but it was too late. I really hope you are being sarcastic with 'Now that is a new one.' it has been said over and over the cupboards were bare when Matt Campbell took over for a lot of key position groups... in 2012 Paul was primarily playing with Chizik recruits. The best thing you can do when trending up is jump heavy on recruiting to add depth for the future and that was never taken to the leave that it could have been....

ISU played 10 P5s for over 20 some years. Iowa just started doing it. Iowa fans always said it wasn't that big of a deal to me, why is it now when Iowa finally does it.

This thread sucks. We need an all Iowa team thread or something useful. It'd be really interesting who would get the nod at starting RB.

what are you talking about? Iowa has played 10 power 5 schools more often than they have not. ISU on the other hand only played 9 for the most part until the Big 12 went 9 conference games.

You can't just make up your own facts to suit your argument.

I went back to 2002 as that was as far back as ESPN's schedules went, below are each of the power 5 teams that each team faced in the non-con:

2002: ISU (FSU, Iowa) Iowa: (ISU)
2003: ISU (Iowa) Iowa: (ISU, ASU)
2004: ISU (Iowa) Iowa: (ISU, ASU)
2005: ISU (Iowa) Iowa: (ISU)
2006: ISU (Iowa) Iowa: (ISU, Syracuse)
2007: ISU (Iowa) Iowa: (ISU, Syracuse)
2008: ISU (Iowa) Iowa: (ISU, Pitt)
2009: ISU (Iowa) Iowa: (ISU, Arizona)
2010: ISU (Iowa) Iowa: (ISU, Arizona)
