Iowa Football Recruiting

Lee may end up going elsewhere, such are things with guys who can't sign for another 18 months (although I guess the early signing period might be in place before then). But Lee has already been offered by the "big boys (Michigan and Penn State), visited those schools and committed to Iowa, for whatever that means. For that reason, I'd give it a higher likelihood than not that he ends up at Iowa.

Still really early for '18 class much less '19. I just hope everyone's on the same page and nothing happens where schollies get pulled. Can lead to a pretty sad deal, like with Eno who desperately wanted to come to Iowa but had his dream crushed. Never good.

Why couldn't Eno come to Iowa? That kid is a stud!

I know, real shame, he really really wanted to be a Hawkeye. Pretty sure after he committed you called him Greg Garmon 2.0 though. No?

Why couldn't he be a Hawkeye? Yes if he attended Iowa he would have been Greg Garmon 2.0, luckily for him he can go somewhere where RBs can flourish

Why couldn't he be a Hawkeye if he wanted to?

Pretty sure it was because he visited other schools after committing when he was told that was against KF's recruiting policy, but I think there was a lot of fault on some of Iowa's coaches who are no longer there for giving the kid bad info or something. Not entirely sure of the specifics. Really too bad, never good to see a kid have his dreams crushed.

Well that sounds like a terrible policy

In every interview he mentions that the 2 most important things to him are player development and a family atmosphere. Say what you want about Ferentz, but not many programs do those 2 things better than him. Plus add in the fact that both his parents went to Iowa. I'd say there is a zero percent chance he ends up a Cyclone.

Believe it or not, someone can be a Cyclone fan and be fairly objective about other programs without being a fan of them. If you can't, that says a lot about you and your intelligence.

No, I don't care that he and cyfaninchiland and, well, you, are hawk fans. You can root for whoever you want to. It's quite sad and pathetic to think that you have to try and fool complete strangers.

Also, I think it's amazing that you, and he, seem to forget that there is a history feature on this site.

You agree it's a terrible policy @YeahBuddy and @HawkeyeMashup?

LOL i just knew you'd pull the "you're a closet hawk fan" card. I'm pretty objective and I'm very hard on ISU because I care about them...believe what you want though, I honestly don't give a ****.

If there is a second thing that is obvious about you, it's that you don't care

I'm fine with the policy, it has to be relayed to the kids though. The breakdown in communication that happened last year by 2 former asst coaches is inexcusable.

I honestly can't believe anyone would like that policy in today's recruiting landscape

The policy is a pretty minor part of the overall recruiting approach for Iowa. In the end Iowa worries more about fit then they do raw athletic ability. It is better when poor fits don't get to campus to begin with.
