Iowa Football Recruiting

Even with the quote there you still didn't see that his #1 goal wasn't beating Iowa.

1. Get to (and win) a bowl game 2. Beat your rivals (because unless you can you probably won't get to a bowl game) and 3. Win the Big 12 (because if you can't beat your rivals you sure as hell won't win the Big 12).

I fully understand his thought process there.

Actually he didn't differentiate which was tops there, getting to and winning a Bowl game AND beating Iowa. I took it as that is the #1 goal to do those two things. Then oh by the way winning our conference comes in a distance 3rd.

You took it that way because you want to troll with it. He listed two things and then #3, so you assume that those two were tied for #1? Yeah, OK. You might be the biggest idiot in this thread and that is really saying something with the list of characters here.

So without beating ISU's rival (Iowa), none of the other goals are even possible.

Sounds like beating Iowa is his #1 goal.

It's not, but how am I misunderstanding "Hawks +21"?
He is saying that he would take the Hawks at +21 for this years game, meaning ISU would be -21, as that is what another poster has predicted for the score.

I figured someone with thousands of posts on a sports message board would know how betting lines work.

I read that as Iowa would win by 21 or more points. I understand the + and - thing, I just didn't realize that he was talking betting lines. And for the record, no one is winning this game by more than 10 points. I'd venture to guess that it'll be closer than that. So, I suppose my point still stands. He's trolling with zero intent of accepting/paying paying out.

If you are dense enough to take those goals literally, as in him ranking them in order of importance, then at least acknowledge that "beat your rivals" was listed 2nd.

So right out of CMC mouth it is most important to win a bowl game and beat Iowa and I'm the stupid one?

Using common sense, I'd say that in every state where 2 or more D1 football schools exist, it would be important to beat the other schools. To establish yourself as the "top dog" in order to gain notoriety and get ahead in the recruiting game. Let's not shove common sense and fact aside for the sake of argument on a discussion board.

And like I eluded to earlier, if you arent good enough to beat Iowa, you sure as hell arent winning the Big 12.

Makes sense, and beating Iowa should always be a goal at ISU. Yet I have had many Clone fans tell me that it is more important to beat conference opponents. Seems CMC disagrees and would rather beat Iowa over a conference opponent. It is surely CMC Super Bowl.

It should be Iowa's goal to beat ISU as well. It's not a little brother vs. big brother type of thing. It's attempting to establish dominance.

Iowa goal is always to win the BigTen. Iowa has always treated the non conference games kind of like a pre season type game. It sucks, and is frustrating, but that is Ferentz M.O.
