Iowa Football Recruiting

I think Wadley and Ryen are pretty comparable players. ISU just plays in a conference that actually plays defense and flies to the ball so you can't be putting tiny guys in the backfield. I think Wadley would actually be much better playing out of the slot

For some odd reason I can't find a tweet about Ryen from McShay like I can for Wadley. Will you post it for us? If they are comparable it has to be somewhere. Oh and while we are at it please stack the box against us like Michigan did on this play. I would love to see what Akrum will do to isu's athletes which are inferior to Michigan's.

I love watching the Akrum Wadley highlights against Michigan and wondering what he could do after another year of development under Doyle and getting the opportunity to play against a team that has Joel Lanning projected as a starting linebacker. Of course, I'm sure CyTwins can make a case for Joel Lanning being just as good as (if not better than) any of the linebackers playing at Michigan or in the Big Ten (in general). I mean it's just Michigan....and what do they know about developing talent?! I'm sure there were quite a few Big 12 teams that had just as much, if not more talent on defense (in 2016)......

Here’s the full index of Michigan 2017 NFL draftees:

The following Big 12 players were selected in the 2017 NFL Draft (And I know what you're thinking - this can't be the full 2017 draftee list for the the ENTIRE Big 12, right? I mean there is no way the Big 12 Conference ONLY had 3 more draft picks than one Big Ten team, right?.....)

First Round
Patrick Mahomes (Texas Tech), QB, Kansas City Chiefs

Second Round
Joe Mixon (Oklahoma), RB, Cincinnati Bengals

Third Round
Jordan Willis (K-State), OLB, Cincinnati Bengals
D'Onta Foreman (Texas), RB, Houston Texans
Rasul Douglas (West Virginia), CB, Philadelphia Eagles

Fourth Round
Dede Westbrook (Oklahoma), WR, Jacksonville Jaguars
Samaje Perine (Oklahoma), RB, Washington Redskins

Fifth Round
Shelton Gibson (West Virginia), WR, Philadelphia Eagles

Sixth Round
Jordan Evans (Oklahoma), LB, Cincinnati Bengals
Vincent Taylor (Oklahoma State), DT, Miami Dolphins

Seventh Round
Josh Carraway (TCU), OLB, Tennessee Titans
Elijah Lee (K-State), LB, Minnesota Vikings
Kyle Fuller (Baylor), C, Houston Texans
Chris Carson (Oklahoma State), RB, Seattle Seahawks

There's only two top 10 college players in the state and that's Jewell and Lazard so why don't we just talk about them? We can talk about Ryen and Wadley more when they've earned it. I think Jewell is going to have a monster year FWIW

On a related note - those 2017 draft results are really, really telling. The Big 12 is in BIG Trouble. What top recruits will want to go to any Big 12 school (outside of maybe Oklahoma or Texas, if they even stick around), when one Big 10 team has almost as many draft picks, as the ENTIRE Big 12 conference, in one year. I had no idea it was that bad. YIKES!!!!

I hope the Big 12 is terrible this year

SnowmanMilitia and YeahBuddy, over or under 5 wins this year for the Chokeyes?..... Tough schedule this year wouldn't you say?

Minnesota landed Noah Shannon last night who was a priority recruit for Iowa. Fleck is going to get a lot of players with his up to date recruiting style

Shannon is going to be in IC this weekend after decommitting from Minny a few days ago.

Love that up to date recruiting style of Fleck.

Didn't know that. Is Iowa a probable landing spot? Fleck has been crushing it regardless

I think Iowa is the favorite right now, it has been said that ND is a dream offer for him but I don't know how likely that is to happen.

My dream DL class this cycle is Linderbaum, Parker Jr, Williams and Shannon.

And if Shannon flips, that would be the 3rd recruit that decommitted from Minny and picked Iowa since Fleck has been there....not elite.

I'd much rather have Fleck as a coach than Ferentz. You disagree and I understand why but it's the truth

I'm not worried about Texas and Oklahoma leaving I just want the easiest schedule possible
If quantity of NFL level talent (within a conference) has anything to do with the quality of competition (within a conference) - you had it pretty easy last year....but I agree - the Big 12 hasn't hit rock bottom yet. When more and more top recruits start to realize that the Big 12 is not nearly as good, as other major conferences, with regards to preparing them for the NFL - teams like Oklahoma and Texas are going to cut ties fast and look for shelter in the Big Ten, SEC, ACC or PAC 12.

Oklahoma and Texas won't cut ties but the rest I'll say again. Let's hope so!
