Well, they did lose 100 games last year and weren't even entertaining to boot, plus the allure of the new field has kinda run it's course. They are playing better than expected so maybe attendance will pickup once warmer summer days are here and school's out.
Not as bad as when I first moved here and you could just walk up to old Metropolitan Stadium and buy decent box seats anytime.
Boxster: [on phone to buddy] Hey, wanta go to the Twins game?
Buddy: Ah, man, the Twin's suck.
Boxster: It's Baltimore and Jim Palmer is pitching.
Buddy: Oh, cool, okay let's go.
Late 1970's at the old Met, different games, both with Ron Guidry on the mound. Sparse crowds and great seats for Boxster.
And Reggie at the old Met.

Smalley was one of my favorite players as a kid. I was crushed when he was traded away. I was later thrilled when they brought him back in time for them to win the World Series in '87

Berrios was nasty in that second game of the DH. Was around 70-65 percent of pitches thrown for strikes. ......
This is the Berrios we were waiting for. I want to time our next trip to the Cities for one of his starts.
If we can get Buxton and Kepler back on track the Twins will have a nice young line-up. We already can see Sano will be the real deal.
Berrios has so much movement on his pitches, it is filthy. Idk how anyone hits him when he is on like yesterday.

Brings back good memories from '69-70 timeframe when the Twins were one of the best hitting teams in the league and the Orioles had the big four led by Palmer. Loved listening to Herb Carneal calling those classic games.
Different era for sure. Used to see Cal Griffiths brothers at the stadium all the time. And our favorite beer man Maceo "Breed" Breedlove. Maceo was pushing 80. Neat outgoing guy who had played in the Negro Leagues. Used to wear this umbrella hat on hot sunny days.
Maceo: Beers for you young gentlemen?

Maceo: How many, daddy-o?
Boxster: Two!
Maceo: Ah, nothing better then young men drinking beer at the ballpark! Although, to tell you the truth I like a little scotch myself! [laughs]

I saw Reggie with the Oakland A's at the old Met, they wore those goofy sleeveless jerseys. Reggie just LOVED parading around those big guns of his.
Also......Tony Kubek is married to my cousin. He's a Milwaukee native.
Remember Scotty Erickson? Same thing.....his fastball had more movement on it than most pitchers' sliders. I don't think HE even knew where it was going. And since so many stayed in the strike zone, the batters couldn't wait out a walk.
Very strange past week for the Twins. Not sure how many times, if ever, I have seen a team have 2 double headers in 4 days. Thought they got out of it pretty well, the Ervin loss was tough, but the Rockies know how to put the bat on the ball. Big series with Baltimore before the opportunity to build a lead in the AL Central next weekend and week
I'm thinking 26 might be Oscar Gamble. Although his hair doesn't look quite bushy enough....
