So being in the Top 850 of football players and the Top 150 of basketball players puts you in the 99th percentile of players in their respective sports.

Actually, it doesn't prove your point. Think of it this way, is it easier to be ranked in the top ten of a graduating class of 25 or 117?

Well thats not the same thing. 10 out of 25 puts you in the 60th percentile while 10 out of 117 puts you in the 91st percentile.

It is the same thing. I made up a scenario for illustrative purposes, but kept the class size ratio the same (4.67:1). The point I'm making is that there is much greater competition in football than basketball due to the much greater participation.

Guys, who cares? The only thing that matters is that Iowa has almost 30 guys the last 4 classes that are among the best prospects at their respective positions in the county. We're loaded, even at QB. Pretty sweet to think that 4 of our 5 current recruits are among the best in the county or just at the cusp. Big things lie ahead, we want Bama.

What people seem to be (purposely?) misinterpreting is that I'm saying that the top 50 kids in each position group represent the best in the country. Never did I say they are elite. Big, big difference.

And I was agreeing with you, hence the "that are among the best prospects at their respective positions in the county". I mean, I was a little worried about the QBs this year, but then I realized both of the ones competing for the #1 spot are well into the best QBs in the country zone. Sooo...

We gunna be good.

By this logic, all recruits that sign FBS schollies are the best in the country.

Average of 25 kids per class for about 125 FBS programs is about 3100 kids each year.

Try and look at it in that vacuum. Downing is 841 out of the approximately 3100 kids that will sign to play FBS football this class.

There are on average 3-4 kids per basketball class for approximately 350 D1 programs so about 1225 kids sign to play D1 ball each year. Nunge, Garza and Connor are all in the Top 150 of those 1225.

Don't know yet. When you have future pros at the position you gotta let them battle it out. It isn't cut an dried like ISU where one is a QB and the other is a LB. That isn't much of a competition.
