U of I loses $1.4 million in lawsuit

I know you are trolling so I know I shouldn't respond but just be serious here for a second.
Let's look at Minnesota or Illinois. How many football hires and basketball hires have they made in the last 10 years? What about other places like Rutgers?
Barta walked into a much different situation with football than Pollard did. The odds say that the next Iowa football coach will fail regardless of who makes the hire. Did Pollard fire McCarney too soon? who knows but he didn't do much after he left.
The majority of hires don't work out. That is why when you get a good guy you try like hell to hold on to him.
As far as basketball goes. Prohm has been to two straight NCAAs and a sweet sixteen. At this point that is a successful hire. If he fails later then it wasn't and you move on. Same with Rhoads.

Minnesota and Illinois have also fired their ADs for under performance and missing on coaching hires. Every AD knows they live and die by the hiring and firing of coaches. Pollard has largely been unsuccessful but yet he is still worshiped by the ISU fanbase.

Hoiberg, Prohm and Campbell disagree

Prohm and Campbell still have work to do imo. This year is a make or break year for Prohm. Campbell is rebuilding to get ISU back to McCarney days, but has a long ways to go.

I have no idea if that is true because I have no idea who ADs of most schools are. The only ones I know are the two instate schools. Wait, I do remember a Minnesota AD being fired but it wasn't for his coaching hires.

And after the Griesbaum trial is when Barta gets fired. Things will get ugly, as Tracey Griesbaum has literally humdreds of field hockey players, successful in all walks of life, supporting her.
Barta claims he fired Griesbaum for "verbal and mental abuse" - and as Newkirk touched on during the Meyer trial, there are numerous cases of student-athletes in other sports who have alleged verbal, physical and even sexual abuse by Iowa coaches - that were ignored by Barta.
He fired Meyer for her relationship with Griesbaum, plain and simple.

Lol Ferentz has won 59% of his games at Iowa. Are you saying they are both equals in terms of success at Iowa?

KF has had higher highs than Fran but also lower lows, 1 and 3 win seasons and then a 4 win clunker in 2012.

Fran has won almost 51% of his games in the B1G while at Iowa. You dont call that a success but defend Orr who won 40% of his conference games at ISU and had a statue built to honor him.

Try and be objective.

So you're saying Fran and Kirk are equals in terms of overall success at Iowa because they have similar win percentages?

Dont get upset, Iowa has had 2 coaches the past 40 years.

What makes you think they will turn into a coaching carousel after KF retires?

I am not upset. You are just being a troll who is unwilling to discuss things rationally. I tried. that is all I can do. If you want to continue to act this way. have at it.

You are trying to tell us that the next time Iowa hires a football coach they will end up with Rutgers, Minny, ISU, Illinois type hires and go through coaches every few years.

That isnt what has happened the last 40 years at Iowa.

So you can only compare football and basketball coaches and their winning percentages if it helps your argument? Got it

You are struggling here.

Again, how can you call Orr a success and build a statue for him and laugh at Fran being called a success?

I think most ISU fans would take that in a heartbeat as well. Do you think most Iowa fans would be on board for a lifetime contract for Barta?

Won't speak for other Iowa fans. I am fine if that is what they wanted to do. He was AD of the year so his accomplishments were recognized by others. Wish Taylor hadn't left to become the AD at K-State. Jane is gone so she can't do anymore damage. Field hockey still hasn't recovered but it is getting closer. In fact except for softball most of Iowa's programs are much better than they were when Bowlsby was leading us. Whatever we end up paying Jane and Tracy it isn't enough to do significant damage. Iowa will continue to build awesome facilities and take advantage of our revenue by continuing to decrease our debt exposure.

Awesome facilities, lower debt exposure and in a rock solid conference.

Let's not let trolls turn this into a thread of us defending Pollard. Let's keep it focused right where it belongs on the problems in Iowa City.
