More troubled and less talented players have been allowed to return at KU. Bill isn't booting Bragg unless he feels very good he has an upgrade imo. Not only has he got caught up on Juiston, but it's become an a very deep transfer market.
100% yes. It was Bragg's decision to leave and it sounds like it had been made in his mind for some time. Self doesn't fight transfers; if a guy doesn't wanna be there then there's plenty of other guys who would love to have that spot.
Bragg and Self never really clicked. When Colby got more minutes than Bragg against Mich State, the writing was on the wall.
Bragg was leaving regardless.
I've heard through the grapevine that we may be getting a visit from him next weekend. It's in the works I think.
Self has sat a lot of guys that ended up playing later. It's how he breaks them. It's just as likely how Bragg responded to that benching in the past two weeks in combination with the results of recruiting in that time was the final call.
Let's be clear, no one is surprised Bragg is out. It's been the most probable outcome for at least a month, if not a few months. But it's pretty benign to post recent developments in KU's recruiting and Bragg's status aren't intermingled.

Juiston wasn't even starting for Hutch last season, and he is now being talked about as their all-time player, so I think it's fair to say that he "blew up" as a sophomore, as unlikely as that trajectory may seem. Kudos to Iowa State for seeing the potential last year. I've talked with some long, long-time Hutch Juco fans who go back to the '60s that say he is the best they have ever had, which includes Kadeem Allen (2nd-team All-Pac 12 this year)...He dominated the national tournament, which is full of guys that are going to play D-1. (Typically at that level, each team will 5 or more future D-1 players, albeit often at the Murray States of the world.) I would actually be a little cautious in reading into that that he will start from day one at KU. He can't shoot from outside about 8 feet and Juco defense is not high D-1 defense... if you give him 27 min/g, he is going to get 8 rebounds next year at D-1, plus he will have several "wow" plays per game where you think, man, if this kid could only shoot. I think conservative expectations for him next year would be: 1st big off the bench, 22 min/g, 5 pts/g, 6 reb/g, 2 assists/g, 1.3 steals+blocks. Not an impact player, necessarily, but reliable and has a plus-plus skill in rebounding that earns him minutes. Starts as a senior, maybe 12 & 9, and that may be lowballing his rebounding.

Although this COULD be the case (intermingling), nobody really knows this. Conjecture at best.

You think the ever evolving evaluation of roster situations/need being intertwined with recruiting is conjecture?
I hope that our coaches can say nicely to Juiston that he will likely be the first big off the bench at KU, where as with us he starts and will play as many minutes as he's physically able to.
Bragg leaving does open up some minutes but we shouldn't overlook that Auzubike 5 star, Lightfoot 4 star, Preston 5 star and Coleby Sr 3 star are still on the roster. Plus Self has been connected to other posts like Reid Travis and Kanter.
It would take a lot of trust for a JuCo to go to that front court and expect minutes. Juiston does look like the type who would welcome competition but the path for minutes at ISU and the system Prohm plays looks like a better bet as of today.

Thinking Brown/ Edwards is an either or situation.
Brown Shaykh Juiston with another stretch four but with range would be the ideal outcome IMO.
Possibly. In that scenario, Brown is the preferred guy, being proven at this level. I still wouldn't mind both, and I don't think it would unbalance the team if we did.
