New Mexico transfer Elijah Brown has Iowa State in his top five

We have to be an attractive place to him. I'm not certain that he'd start (could be a battle between him Babb, and potentially Edwards), but he'd be at worst the 6th man.

Brown would be a lock to start

I've backed away from assuming grad transfers will come in and start. Now, we're pretty depleted as far as the back-court goes, but we also have Jackson, Wigginton, and Young that will start next season. If we land Juiston, you have to believe that he starts and that would leave that final spot open. If I had to put money on it, I'd lean towards Brown starting over the others, but you just never know.

He's visiting Oregon first
Oh.

Were many of our previous transfers first-visit or only one visit guys? Brown has been through this before though. Great to be on the list. Without knowing a person connection here and Brown being somewhat of a west coast guy, I don't feel great about our chances.

Dude, Brown would start from day one here and if Prohm isn't promising him 35 minutes/game he's not coming here. Without doing the math, he's probably got more D1 points and minutes than every other player we'll have combined.

This is a lot like Kane coming in and letting us ease Monte into the lineup, which I'm hoping we could now do with Wiggington. This might make some of our youngsters sad, but it gives us a chance at number 7, so we gotta do it.

I think the first visit usually has a better close rate. Hopefully we can get him on campus.

I think Lindell visited Oregon first and was a lean for them, so maybe we can just take their whole backcourt for next year.

Even the an NU site says ISU is the best route :)

There will be undoubtedly a number of factors that Brown has to consider in his decision. If he wants to go somewhere and continue to play 30+ minutes a night in a starring role, Iowa State probably makes the most sense.

Did some quick research on what the 5 teams Brown listed are losing to graduation

Oregon: 28% of scoring. 1 guard

Gonzaga: 27% of scoring. 1 guard

Northwestern: 15% of scoring. 1 guard

Saint Mary: 21% of scoring. 1 guard.

Iowa State: 83% of scoring. 4 guards.
