Seemingly never ending Iowa MBB thread (still going.....)

Any ISU fan that wouldnt take Baer on our team is just saying that because they hate Iowa. He would have made us a much better team this year. He would have excelled in our offense with guys like Monte feeding him the ball. I doubt he would have played as much as he does at Iowa, but he would have made a hell of a 6th man in our frontcourt this year.

Exactly. He would have been better on ISU than Iowa while probably scoring less and rebounding more.

So how many NCAA tournament wins per year would make a team "elite"? ISU's 6 wins over the last 5 years is still pretty impressive. I believe Kansas is the only Big 12 school with more over that time period. I would think ISU has to be in the top 15 or 20 nationally as far as tournament wins in the last 5 years go.

Here are the win totals for each Big 12 team over the last 5 years:
Kansas 12
Iowa State 6
Oklahoma 6
Baylor 5
West Virginia 2
Kansas State 1
Texas 1
Oklahoma State 0
Texas Tech 0
TCU 0

It takes more than 6 wins over 5 years.
The Big12 has been really bad in the NCAA forever now outside Kansas, if 6 wins over 5 years is the 2nd best the conference can produce that ain't good. The BigTen has several teams that match or surpass this 6 wins in the last 5 years stuff. Heck some of these teams did it when missing the tournament all together some years.

Last 5 years BigTen

MSU 11 wins
Wisconsin 13 wins
OSU 8 wins
Michigan 9 wins
Indiana 6 wins

That is 35% of the BigTen having as good or better success than ISU

Listen like I said it is a very nice run, but that is all it is. Go on a run to the Elite 8 this year, THEN you are talking about having a very good run.

Ouch, that is a pretty weak conference when the top 5 BigTen teams have 47 NCAA wins, and the whole of the Big12 has 33 NCAA wins. Can that be right? I must have messed my number up, or these Big12 numbers are wrong. That can't possibly be right. The BigTen can't possibly be that much better than the Big12

I wouldn't give a crap about him on offense because other than maybe Solomon he'd have always been the least skilled offensive player who got minutes for ISU. I'd actually hope he didn't shoot to give more opportunities to others. I would gladly have taken him on the offensive and defensive glass, running on breaks, and getting 50/50 balls though. He's one of the better players I've seen lately at coming up with the ball on loose ball plays.

Here is what I came up with for the Big 10 over the last 5 years (2012-2016):
Wisconsin 13
Michigan State 11
Michigan 9
Ohio State 8
Indiana 6
Maryland 3
Iowa 2
Purdue 1
Illinois 1
Minnesota 1
Nebraska 0

Yes the Big 12 hasn't been the best come tournament time over the past 5 years, and I wouldn't call ISU a blue blood, but they've still had some nice success recently.

So you think Babb has More NBA potential than Morris or Burton?
He has two more years, I've seen enough to know it's not out of the question but the NBA is a long shot for anyone. I know Baer won't make the NBA.

Not saying I wouldn't take Baer but I can't say I would take him over Babb. It wasn't just Prohm saying Babb had the best NBA potential, I believe Monte and Naz did as well

47 by my count, but your point stands.

Is this serious? If so Prohm is as dumb as stupid Hawk fans saying Uhl had NBA potential. Both are laughable, especially with both Morris (might be a little small for the NBA, but I could see him stick) and Burton on the roster (who is absolutely athletic enough to play in the NBA, if he can get his head right).

I'd be willing to bet right now that even most Clone fans would trade Babb for Baer after next season is done. I'm not sure if it is a fair bet anyway because anyone with any kind of BB IQ knows Baer was much, much better than Babb this year and would have killed at as a 6th man for the Clones.
Baer would be a great player at WVU, he just grabs n claws at everything, but nothing gets called.
His heart is great, but he gets away with murder.

Iowa has 2 wins in the last 16 years of NCAA? Only one if they'd caught the Woodbury pushoff vs Temple.

Ok, that seems more like it. I added an extra year as I was looking back. So the BigTen top 5 teams have 47 wins and the top 5 Big12 teams have 31.
