Seemingly never ending Iowa MBB thread (still going.....)

Im just surprised you are ripping the Big 10 for being bad at defense when the Big 12 has looked like arena football for most of the last decade.

Big 12 is an elite offensive league. The Big Ten was a terrible defensive league this year and they got exposed when they didn't have to face the Greg Davis' of the world in bowl games

The Big 10 had 7 schools that gave up fewer points in conference in the same 9 game schedule than the best in the entire Big 12 which was West Virginia. I dont think a small sample size of 6 or 7 bowl games in enough to make up for an entire 9 game schedule. In other words, West Virginia would have given up the 8th most amount of points in the Big 10.

Im waiting for the obligatory, "Well thats because the Big 10 sucks at offense" post now.

LOL. Why would you use conference schedule to try to prove that one conference is better than another at defense? That's exactly why you're going to get comments about the offenses sucking. It's not a canned response; it's because your argument is lacking, to put it lightly.

Yeah, I would agree with that. Alot of the problem is they get into matchups they dont deserve to be in when it comes time for bowl season. They end up getting beatdown because of the lame bowl agreements the Big 10 has which puts crappy Big 10 teams up against better competition.

Because they both have a 9 game sample size? Ok, Ill do the same with the entire season and it turns into 6 teams instead of 7.

Maybe because their defenses are good and its harder to move the ball?

The point I was getting at is I dont really think ripping the Big 10 for sucking at defense is really a good argument considering we play in the Big 12. But carry on.

Ah, ok. If there are the same number of games, the sample must be equal. Right? Right? Let's throw out the time when they didn't live up to your lofty thoughts of them in bowl games, because it doesn't fit your narrative.

Haha, you would be a Trump guy.

Nothing to do with politics, it's a great GIF to point out you were wrong. The Big 10 was terrible at defense in football this year and they're really bad at basketball overall this year as well.

Equal? Lmao, yeah, because the Big 12 plays such brutal non-conference schdules every year. Teams like Tech and Baylor have feasted off horrible teams in the non-conf for years. Im not saying the Big 10 plays better, but they at least usually have 1 solid non-conf game every year for every team.

I dont really remember football season, but yeah, they arent very good in basketball this year, Ill agree on that.

I just hope Northwestern makes the tourney.

Iowa will be on the bubble of the NCAA's next year.

By your argument, ISU is on the bubble this year and loses pretty much everybody. Where will they be next season?

ISU isn't on the bubble, I know Iowa fans haven't had to pay attention to it this year but ISU is playing for seeds now. Unless they pull an Iowa and never win again.

Not sure where ISU is next year, extending one of the nations longest tourney streaks is probably too much to ask. It's possible with the recruiting Prohm has done, but next year will probably be more about finding out how good the young guys are. My expectations are for the big names to play up to their rankings and be a pretty competitive team in the big 12.

Well their defenses were real bad. Park would have put up video game numbers

Dartmouth must have an elite defense. They only gave up 21 points per game! That puts them in the top 20, since the offenses they're playing against don't matter and all.

Umm, no, just no. I cant even believe you guys are defending the Big 12 in this argument. Our conference has been arena football for the last decade now, but all of a sudden our defenses are really strong. So lets see........we have a sample size of 6 or 7 bowl games........against who knows what kind of offensive competition..........vs a sample size of 10 years of Big 10 defense vs our arena league........not really a valid comparison.

K-State usually has a really good defense and is built similiar to alot of Big 10 teams. We couldnt do jack on them at home that day.
