If you'd enjoy a high energy, intense, hard rock performance you MUST go see RHCP. I went last night in Lincoln.

First off, we were by far the oldest people in the crowd (late 50's). I was shocked. Most of those kids were not in the womb when I was listening to "Blood Sugar Sex Magik" - but damn they KNEW the music.

The bad news is I took my SO - and all I've every played around her was the softer stuff - Californication, Scar Tissue, Under The Bridge, etc... She about had a cow when I was pointing and screaming "SUCK THAT KISS" with the band and the kids in attendance.

But I have to say, RHCP MOTHER ******* ROCKS!!! The crowd stood when they walked on stage and never once sat down. And as much as you won't want to hear this, it got louder than anything I've ever experienced at Hilton. My ears are still ringing from the encore call.

Long story short, if you enjoy this kind of thing I HIGHLY recommend it.

Have a few buddies going when they come to DSM in a few months.

In college we would always put the DVD of RHCP at Slane Castle and clean after throwing parties.

I'm good with that. I may go again when they come to DSM (the DSM venue wasn't announced when I bought my tickets). But if I do, it won't be with the SO.

By the way, the second opening act was "Shorty Trombone and Orleans". I'd never have imagined a trombone could make those kinds of sounds. Several times I'm looking at the two guys with saxophones and they were just dancing around and not playing. Then I realized it was Shorty going to town on the trombone. It was amazing. They totally won the crowd over by the time they were done. Did five songs.

If you think you'd like DMB on rock and roll steroids you'd like them. And if you like both DMB and RHCP I guarantee you you'll like them. I'm going to check them out and download some stuff today.

Could never quite get into them consistently but mad props for them staying relevant for 4 decades.

I love the RHCP. Ive seen them twice when theyve came through Iowa. That being said, the quality of music has taken a huge hit without John Frusciante. There is no doubt he was the musical genius behind that band.

With Frusciante they're among my all time favorites.

Without him, it's just not the same.

We've seen Trombone Shorty a couple times. Definitely worth seeing them on their own.
