I watched the last few mins of the game last night. What the hell was Fran doing. Young players on the court, Jok fouled out 2 TOs left and he just rolled with it, not using his timeouts. Sure if it was a veteran team it would be one thing to let that group just go is questionable.
The difference with our team against Iowa and Drake related to focus, not effort. There's a difference.
Fran is a really crappy in game coach. I think him and his staff scout really well and put together solid game plans but when things don't follow the script he starts breaking clipboards and kicking scorer tables instead of making tweaks. How the hell you hold on to those TO's is beyond me?
Honest question, how do you enjoy a season when you don't think they are even good enough to make the NIT?
When you are elated to be a participant in the play-in game the NIT isn't that much further down the ladder. Low expectations enter in again.
Fran still has no clue at the end in tight games. Bohannon drive at the end of 1st OT was like a flashback of Gesell in the final min the last 4 years. No timeout to set up a play twice; just let your undersized and slower true pg chuck shyt up.
It's fun watching the young guys improve and to watch Jok light it up. It wouldn't be as fun if this was last year and Iowa was sitting at 9-7. Sure I wish we were going to be dancing but to expect that coming into the year would have been stupid.
I agree, and I dont know/doubt you said as much. But plenty of Hawkeyes were on hear pleading their case on why this team was going to be a solid squad that would get back to the tournament.
Pretty good 24 hours for Garza, scored a career high 39 points last night and was bumped up to a 4* on Rivals today.
Iowa has lower rpi than Rutgers and hoks are at the bottom....something like 139. They need higher for jok to do the nit.
Watching him run is cringe worthy. Looks to have a fantastic touch on that shot though.
What's this? A thread where Cytwins is going on about the Hawkeyes? I swear Cytwins pays more attention to Iowa than even the most die hard Hawkeye fans. Constantly bringing up and talking about the damn Hawkeyes.
I am OK with this, the last 2 Iowa recruits (JorBo and Moss) that you bashed through your own evaluation or by evaluating a video are playing really well as freshmen. Future is looking bright.
