.

McKay had his issues, but he was a stud in college basketball. Fans can deride him for only making lob or fast break dunks - but he got 5-6 of them a game. They still count as points.

And rebounds, blocks, and altered shots count too. This years team would be a top 25 team easily with a guy like that in the middle.

Yeah, he had his issues, but we'd give a lot for a rim protector like that now. Remember when we tried to get Boucher (now at Oregon) ? Minnesota got a good transfer in Lynch who had 5 blocks against Purdue last night. My point...we just have to get that impact big somehow, someway, in the future. Whether that is transfer, juco, or foreign surprise. And yes, I know, I'm sure they're trying.

Without looking it up I don't think McKay regressed that much stat wise. Probably in blocks he went down. It's easy to get clouded on McKay last year because of the drama.
Regressed is probably a bad characterization for McKay, but I think it was fair to expect more than the same production plus the distraction and DNPs.
Definitely would love to have McKay this year.

We don't have a rim protector now and this is the best defensive team we've had in a long time

Care to elaborate?

I don't always agree with what Prohm's doing, but didn't agree with what Hoiberg did either.

I really enjoyed Prohm holding McKay accountable, which is a part of coaching last I checked.
Game coaching I mean. The out of bounds plays, players not knowing what to do during the game, time outs at the wrong time, final seconds plays. Can he recruit, YES. Maybe Fred can come back as AD so CCSP can get some advice. McKay, that I would put in the category of player development. Did he develop Lard and Malou to actually pass courses?

Yikes. That's the last thing this team needs. Another post that thinks he's a 3pt sniper but really is just a big body that can't shoot, or block out, or defend, or rebound, or score in the post.

Booker could defend and block some shots. And he played with some nastiness. Yeah, he shot too many threes, but at least it was some kind of offensive threat, which is more than any of our current posts can offer.

My qualm is knowing that you need post help and then recruiting two players who everyone knew were major risks. One I have no problem with, but two was too big of a gamble. And they're paying for it now.

They are supposed to be student athletes, he apparently has forgotten the student part. I was very impressed with the new fb coaches focus on academics.

Sr. Niang vs Jr, So, Fr Niang. NBA draft pick Nader vs. mid major transfer Nader. I could have had a better offense.

It's nice that Prohm gets no credit for those guys getting better. All of a sudden, after 3 and 4 years of college basketball, they just somehow made this jump in productivity.

And you're last statement really says something about your opinion of Hoiberg.

What would you have liked him to do?

He was almost exactly the same player in terms of efficiency but he was less prolific and there was no one doing any of the things he did well like BDJ and Hogue could help with in the past.

In some respects yes. But don't think you say that when we were playing Iowa or Drake. Nor do I think you'll be saying it vs. Baylor big time. But hopefully I'm wrong and you will be more on target.

I could say a lot more chiming in on offense, play calling, etc., after talking to someone who was around about every huddle last year, but this board would go ballistic. As for recruiting, I think the jury is still out on that, too, and I'm usually a huge coach supporter, trying to poo poo the naysayers. I get that its territory they are familiar with, but if we continue to try to pull kids from the south(Miss., Louisiana, Georgia,Alabama) who are tough to get to come north, especially when Miss State is forking out money to get them, etc. , I think its going to be tough. Yes, we got Wigginton but TJ basically got Lewis for us. Its okay to disagree, but I really think if we don't see us getting good players out of the midwest for 2017 & 2018, we will be struggling.

Our FG% defense is ridiculous. We have had an elite defensive team so far

I hope that's true, I'll admit I didn't know that specifically. Just don't think you can win consistently in the big12 with just defense or expecting to hold a team to 4 points in the last 8 minutes. Very proud of the guys effort in doing that, don't get me wrong. And Prohm giving that adjustment with different lineup. I just hope we score enough against Baylor to stay in the game while we're busting our butt on defense.

How do you know this board would go ballistic with objective information provided?

I can agree on how things look at crucial moments under Prohm...Hoiberg seemed generally good at figuring things out on the fly but there were times his team looked unprepared out of the gates, and a lot of times, if they needed a stop, it didn't happen.

And games like at K-State in 2015 were not good examples of a team knowing what to do.

Trust me, that's how this board operates. And I'm not referring to just critical moments. Cant blame them, I didn't want to hear it either.

This flies in the face of everything this board stands for! Blasphemer!

You have to look at the source of the information. Everyone has an agenda, including the person that is telling you how awful prohm is. You should recognize that.
