***Official 2017 Transfer Thread***

This thread makes is sound like we are out of schollies and Kasongo is keeping us from taking a stud in his place. Last I saw we had 2-3 still available even with him on the team.
yeah still have 3 spots to fill. Not really like he is keeping them from signing other players. I think they just took a flyer on him and hoped that he would work out knowing they had plenty of room this year to find other guys. If he works out great, if not, then they move on.

Mid year. We have scholarships to live, but none for second semester, which makes it harder to land mid year players.

I like this attitude. This board was on fire when Dustin Hogue committed to us, he was terrible and couldn't even see the court at IHCC. And all those posters were so right about him.

You either trust Prohm or you don't. Time will tell about Kasongo.

Don't make stuff up. I don't remember many people down on Hogue. He was a pretty highly sought after Juco. He had plenty of other offers.

Hope we have a chance of getting that juco forward that was talked about on here a few weeks ago. His name escapes me. Too bad we lost out on Stokes. Since someone brought up Creighton above, they would have a couple bigs coming off their bench that probably are good enough to help us. Patton, the starter, is a stud. Go figure

Prohm's comments when Kasongo officially signed with ISU are vanilla. He's a project.

“We are excited to add Ray to our program,” Prohm said in a release. “He has great size and athleticism and we are looking forward to working with him during his sit-out season as we continue to develop his skill set.”

Now, if Kasongo turns into another Simeon Carter then we all need to question this program's ability to develop players.

It takes time for post players to develop and contribute. Having Kasongo work with the team and staff for a year were he can just focus on his weaknesses with out thoughts of playing is a huge benefit. This will be true for Lard too. Both have potential and could be legit starter next year.
I have no idea how CF will react if Simeon puts it together at the end of the year or next. No reason to think Simeon will make the jump other than he is young though it would be fun to see.

Still though, we had 6 scholarships to fill, and 7 if Lard didn't make it. Our posts would be Simeon, who still doesn't play, or Solomon, who had never played. The chances ISU brings in 3 (3, because I think we still need 2 more with current roster) grad transfer or JUCO bigs that are significantly better than Kasongo are not very high. A bird in the hand type deal when you have that many scholarships.

I hope you are right but why would Kasongo make the jump and not Stokes?

Both are practicing and not playing We are nearing having the same quantity of games on Stokes as we do Kasongo to compare.

Stokes? are you referring to Isaiah did you mean Simeon Carter? I hope Carter does make a jump and very well could fufill his talent. He has been a full year under Prohm and staff and a couple of the coaches comments along with the suspension have raised my doubts. Plus there is ample time for him to see the floor this year if it clicks and hasn't seen the floor for meaningful minutes yet in the noncon.

My bad. Exchange Stokes for Simeon Carter.

My point is its hard to see much of a jump for either.

Maybe take him just to help the team GPA? Other than that, I don't see a reason why we'd want this guy. He's smaller than Matt Thomas.

Hogue had a junkyard dog quality about him that we lacked in 2015-16 and this year; I didn't fully appreciate it until he had left. That stuff is hard to quantify.

He's a good shooter, would add experience and was first team all conference. Plus it's not like we have scholarship constraints. Not sure we go after him or not but I would love to throw our hat in the ring
