How many B12 jobs are going to open up?

If Herman goes to TX then they won't need Saban..Sure Saban would pretty much guarantee NC but Herman can recruit...is a good coach...and will create a winning culture at Tx for a long time IMO. We really need TX to become a dominant force honestly again..Hopefully that happens in the next 2-3 years and they are playing for the playoffs then for the conferences sake. A powerful TX is def good for the stability of this conference and TV negotiations coming up in 5 years or so. The next 5 years with Tx and CMC at ISU will be the most crucial time ever in ISU athletics history..Really hope we CMC can get us winning and more than 6 games a year.

I hate to break it to you but short term ISU football success (if it even happens) has little to do with realignment if the Big 12 crumbles. The Big Ten took Rutgers and Maryland for crying out loud. We just have to hope that if the Big 12 falters, other conferences will value our AAU status, fan support, and proximity geographically in Big Ten land.

I went to the ISU-OSU game this year in Stillwater. The way they started this season upset a fair amount of fans and many compared it to a regular plateau like Bo at Nebraska.
I'm not saying it's right, it's just what I was told.
Many fans also said that Gundy and Pickens just don't get along anymore.

Boone probably just doesn't like the mullet.

Strong, Grobe - Texas will pay whatever Herman wants. Baylor will have trouble - they want to keep memory of Art alive so want to hang onto his boy - new guy has to be a patsy. Biggest donor has a mancrush on Art - a little too much I think. Baylor will be a mess for a long time.

This is much more likely than OSU letting Gundy go. As another poster said, he is probably the most underrated coach in the country.

This is what I'm thinking. Gundy to LSU makes a lot of sense.

They don't, and it's been reported openly. Boone Pickens is the kind of donor few schools have to deal with. It adds a dynamic of things off the field that come into play. Hard to say how that ultimately turns out, really.

If Gundy coaches someplace else it won't be because of how his teams did on the field.

That said, OSU's AD has a huge incentive to convince everybody to play nice. Replacing Gundy would be tough.

Kingsbury will be gone and Strong will be gone. Those two and Baylor are pretty much givens.

TT fans are saying they can't afford the $9.4 million buyout. They are furious with their AD for giving KK an extension two years ago when it really wasn't warranted. Sound familiar?

Charlie Strong is gone.....Beatty and Kingsbury will be back and billy bob snyder will coach until his son is named head coach of the kansas state football program

Reasons...Fans and esp the biggest longhorn donors have wanted Charlie Strong gone for a couple of years....Kansas cant afford anybody except Beatty and he will turn the jayhawks around given enough time imho....

The Tx Tech fans are very unappy with Kliff Kingsbury right now, but the administration loves him ....think Fred Hoiberg.....and his buyout is around $10 million....He will be back.....

Dana Holgerson may just look for a better situation than he has now.....something like the Oregon job would probably get him to move....

Go Cyclones beat the mountain men

A lot of them never wanted him in the first place. And, any excuse to use one of lsufreek's gems....

Herman to Texas, Briles to Houston. Chad Morris to Baylor. Kingsbury gets a "Win 8 games or GTFO" year in 2017. Briles would be waiting for the Tech job.

Herman to Texas.

If so, then once again Texas will 'make hay' with a former Iowa State Assistant as their HC.

If Herman were not the obvious choice, I would say Major Applewhite would be the leading candidate for the Texas job (assuming that Applewhite wants to be a HC at some point).

Check out the amount of "Dead" money the Texas schools could be paying off if they fire their coaches:

"Yet the amount of money it would take to make the first three go away is pretty staggering. Strong’s buyout is $10 million – Texas boosters will take care of that one. But it would also cost a ton to get rid of Kingsbury (a reported $9.4 million) and Sumlin would be owed even more money than either Strong or Kingsbury if A&M were to fire him."

If Tech fires KK, is there any chance Tech would look to hire Briles? Seems like a natural fit for Briles and Tech would be an instant player.

Beaty stays. Holgerson stays. Kingsbury might go, not sure about this one yet, but I'm leaning more towards him staying due to the cost of his buyout. Grobe (and hopefully the rest of his staff) goes. Strong goes, unless by some miracle he shellacks TCU next weekend and also annihilates a bowl opponent.
