Walking Dead

Personally, I thought that the gore was a little over the top, but I don't really enjoy the "movie" version of gore. I also don't really like horror movies either. I liked them growing up, but I just can't get into it anymore.

I've become less and less involved with TWD. I shut it off last night. There's been so much gore on the show that I feel like this show was done just to see how far they could take it. I think it was beyond gratuitous. I can picture a bunch of 14 year old boys in their basement loving the show. But I'm out. There's got to be something else on TV to chew up my time that's at least thought provoking.

The first 6 seasons of Shameless are on Netflix. You won't be disappointed.

That was by far the most intense and highly fulfilling episode in TWD's history. I came into last night expecting something great and was on the edge of my seat for the better part of an hour. Absolutely riveting television!

I'm absolutely prepared for next weeks hour long (boring) conversation between Morgan and Carol. I hope I'm surprised in that the group meets up and fills them in on the horror that took place.

Big fan of those as well. :)

Last night was easily the hardest TWD I've watched...as much because of the sheer evil in the methods of Negan to break Rick as in the sound effects when he broke Abraham and Glenn.

Up there with when Rick had to kill Carol's daughter.

I tried Fear the Walking Dead but found myself wanting a lot of the main characters to die right away, so really had no point in tuning in. Maybe it's improved since.

Good season premiere, there's a ton to resolve. Definitely sold the idea of breaking down Rick, and I'm guessing by the end of the season it's going to be a much smaller cast.

I thought the season premier was phenomenal. One of my gripes with TWD is they never seemed to have the balls to kill off any of their main characters like GOT, but that obviously changed last night.

I couldn’t help but get the feeling with what happened in that episode, coupled with the grand charade on Talking Dead that it was almost the start of a new era in this series. I have never read the comic series, but I feel like for this season at least the show will have a whole new feel to it. Some people may not like it, but it will definitely keep me tuned in every week.

Agreed. People have complained about the show being too monotonous. This should be incredibly different.

Well its a show about flesh eating zombies. Gore should be expected.

There might be some thought provoking shows on Hallmark you could enjoy.

So, 'guy' should really be 'weenie'? It's a freaking zombie show. What did you expect?

Didn't say anything I was expecting...said I made the mistake of watching something, which I found very violent and stressful, and of note: it's not good or healthy for me to do so.

But yes, using disrespectful language toward someone on the interwebs is a useful way to dissolve the conversation.

Guessing you rub one out to shows on Hallmark between breaks from using the Victoria Secret catalogs in your mom's basement? Those catalogs come to her house because she wears those clothes. Picture that next time you're spanking it.

I'm ok with the zombie gore. But last night's episode was just dumb. Not as dumb as some of the Morgan-episodes, but still dumb.
Eh I tend to lean towards Good Housekeeping magazines.

If last night's episode didn't provoke any thoughts from you, that seems like a you problem. The gore from last night's episode was a means to submit Rick to Meegan's will, as well as elicit a lot of strong emotions from the audience. It was very gory, but it was far from gratuitous. It served a huge purpose in changing the story arc for the next season or more.

I loved the episode. Great start to the season. I don't understand how that episode of TWD could turn you off to the series if you already made it through seasons 1-6.

So here's a couple of basement dwelling bloggers that not only decided to quit watching after last night, but had to write a 2000 word essay on it first to let the world know they were quitting.

That was a pretty good write-up. I tweeted last night that I believed that the episode was the shark-jumping episode #thedaythedeaddied. But this quote from that article said it best: "This wasn’t quality television, and it wasn’t suspenseful drama. It was torture-porn masquerading as storytelling, and AMC should be ashamed for airing it."

But, there was one line in last night's episode I laughed at... when Negan called Lucille a vampire bat. That **** was funny.

I'll keep watching because I want to see the moment Daryl kills Negan but I thought it was a pretty predictable outcome for the premier. Sure, I didn't think Glenn was dying before Abraham but I would have bet a significant amount of money that one of those two died so I wasn't real shocked. I just knew they weren't killing a woman and they didn't have the balls to kill off Daryl, Coral or Rick. Killing Abraham creates story lines with 3 different people and killing Glenn saves time on a now boring character. I don't, know it's just one of those shows where now I'm just watching to see how it ends just like Nip/Tuck and Lost. It's not that good anymore.

It's a bit of a repeating story line. Meet group of bad guys. Some of the goods guys are killed. Lots of the bad guys are killed. Rick and crew win and move to different location.
