Iowa Football Recruiting

Just an FYI on Calloway, since you guys seem to be so obsessed with this- Apparently a lot of him complaining that Iowa hasnt been contacting him is mostly b.s. On another premium site, people close to the program all were saying the same thing, that he has been contacted just as much as any other recruit. In fact, when the no contact period ended on Sept. 1st, Calloway was the first recruit Ferentz called. Think about it. Why in the world would Iowa stop talking to their 4 star CB with offers from everywhere, good grades, and is a good kid? Doesnt make sense. Sounds like the water is getting muddied, in regards to his recruitment. He has some uncles that are super close/big fans of Arkansas, and have been pushing him there. I dont necissarily mean that in a bag man way, just saying its gotten strange. Texas sounded like a major player for him too, but with Strong probably not making it through the season, who knows.

Bottom line, this may not all be his fault. Again, in reading what people with good connections were saying, it sounded like Chevin is getting pressure to go elsewhere, and is using the no contact thing as an excuse, and it sounds like Iowa is done with him, and going to move on. Its not an "Iowa arrogance" thing, but when you have a kid spreading things that arent necessarily true, and giving you the run around, it makes sense to just part ways. Dont get me wrong, this sucks. Its really does. Chevin is by far the best cornerback recruit of the Ferentz era. No question. However (looking at it through black and gold glasses), Iowa still has a pretty good track record of finding mid level DBs, and turning them into really good players (King, Hyde, Prater, etc.). This isnt sour grapes, but at least Chevin isnt some crazy 4 star WR, a position Iowa routinely is awful at, where he splits and leaves us with mediocre at best talent, and scrambling to find a decent pass catcher.

Still though, this sucks. Kids an absolute playmaker. And I dont blame him at all for wanting to look around, especially at top SEC schools, and other bluebloods. Just wished he wouldnt have used that excuse as a reason to do that. Sounds like bridges were burned.

So he straight up lied in his most recent interview? I guess I'm going to believe a religious high character kid over someone trying to do damage control within the program

Strange how the arguments for Hawk fans always happen to be on premium pay sites.

Exactly. Plus it's not like khawk has any credibility on this site. He said Calloway was going to be a Hawk for sure but now his family who was on board with him committing to Iowa before apparently hates Iowa now.

Actually yeah, it kind of sounds like it. Absolutely no damage control being done. However, even though you twisted my words, and made the argument to fit your narrative, it may be more complicated than him "straight up" lying. It may have been a combination of him looking at a way out and using this, while also wanting MORE contact that he was receiving. But again, he wasnt getting any less talked to than any other recruit.

Look, he wanted (wants to) bail. That happens. Its a bummer cause he's a big talent, but its not worth the headache. However, if you think Iowa just randomly stopped talking to their best DB recruit ever just for the hell of it, then I think you need to open your eyes a bit. But im sure you'll come back with some pseudo witty comment void of any logic or reason. Thats your gig, though. Keep doin you, dawg.

Could you backpedal any more? Calloway commits, I say he is just naming Iowa the leader at the moment and won't end up there and get mocked. I get told he is a high character religious kid that said he's shutting down his recruitment and would never lie about that. You literally kept calling me out for saying he wasn't shutting down his recruitment.

Now he's going to decommit and he's this huge liar and made up a whole interview where he said Iowa didn't reach out to him or return his calls.

Against Texas Class 5A they're not exactly meaningless, IMO.

Big game Beau.

Tyler Cook averaged like 10ppg in HS and Fran is talking like he's the next LeBron. Has his stats got him any more offers or is it still down to Iowa and Texas State for his talents?

If he wanted out and the staff was in contact with him consistently, couldn't he have just told them he was moving on? Seems like the more christian thing to do rather than publicly bashing them with blatant lies. The only logical reason I can think of that the iowa staff would be falling behind in recruiting is because they're preoccupied with salvaging a bowl season.

I was just going off of the kids words, man. Sounds like the kid (and his family) did a 180. Yet, somehow thats ME back peddling? At the time, yes, he shut down his recruitment.

Again, youre twisting things (your m.o). I never said he was a huge liar. Far from it. Did he think he probably needed to be contacted more? Maybe. But again, he was contacted the same amount as ever other recruit. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

You dont have to believe me, but this is the up to date stuff. Im sure you'll continue your gig when it comes to this stuff, but again, if you honestly think Iowa would just stop contacting their best db recruit ever, then you really need to have your head examined.

Don't really have the pulse of Iowa recruiting like you seem to, but hoping no other offers. However, my source said #11 Wisconsin is still sniffing around, which isn't good. What have your guys been telling you about Martin to the Domers? He already find out who the new coach is going to be? He like the choice?

You are calling him a liar because you are saying what he said below isn't true. Just because he's not going to your school doesn't mean you need to call him a liar and attack his character. I believe him over some assistant that spoon fed Kakert want he wants fans to think

"The defensive back coach, coach (Phill) Parker, called me right after I committed and I've never heard from him again. I'm not a needy type of guy, but when I committed, I want to at least have some kind of communication. I want to feel like they are excited about me, but they want even answer me or my step dad's calls. He tried to get in touch with coach Parker to set up my official visit, and they said they would get back in contact and never did. When that happened we just decided to open my recruitment back up."

"It was weird, to be honest. I have the head coaches at Arkansas and Ole Miss calling me weekly, and we can't even get my position coach at Iowa to get on the phone with me."

Martin to Michigan is trending thanks to Notre Dame's recent play is what I'm being told. I think Michigan State is firmly #2

You ignored this part earlier, did ASU Eno's first or second visit?

These the same guys that told you the Domers weeks ago? I could definitely see him at Michigan though, but fun to be in the mix for all these studs none the less.

No idea on Eno's other officials. I'd love to hit up ASU though, that's for sure. Hope the guy made it to Havasu.

Yes.

I heard he went to an SEC school on a visit but is trying to keep it quiet so Hawkeye fans don't blow up his Twitter anymore
