King will be on Lazard wherever he lines up

Lazard didn't "torch" anybody. Had 1 impact play all game....the 39 yarder to set up the FG. Besides that he was contained....no YAC.
Great player but he was held in check..

He had 6 catches for 98 yards in three quarters against your starters. How is that not getting torched? You must have ridiculously high standards for WRs. Plus the play you referenced was all YAC.

Iowa's leading WR last year averaged 50 ypg, Lazard has 96 yards through 3 quarters and got "held in check". Lol
If Iowa's back 7 can hold every team's star receiver to <100 yards and 0 TD's and allow the rest of the team around 50 yards, I'm going to consider it a successful outing on their part.

Without looking I'm guessing you won't face another WR as good as Lazard and over half of your remaining games shouldn't have as bad as offense as ISU's which is saying something given your schedule

Lazard is a good player and refreshingly reliable, but he's not Calvin Johnson or something.

ISU needs a real game changer.

I had read about Malbin and looked for him a bit the other night. Looked like a good player to me. I thought Iowa in general looked pretty good and sound.

From what I remember it felt like ISU was basically afraid to go to King's side.

They seemed afraid to do much of anything. Lanning had that look Jantz used to get when you knew the inside of his head was a circus.

King only allowed 3 passes to his side for a total of 11 yds.
Mabin did pretty good against Lazard. And yes Half of Lazards yards came when the game had already been decided but he is a good receiver. He will probably get drafted in the middle to late rounds. Iowa put Niemann on Lazard when he was in the slot.

Man I hope you're right. Looking pretty salty right now with two top 10 teams left in this meat-grinder though.

All but 13 of his yards came against Iowa's starters.

Your standard for getting "torched" is a lot less than mine I guess.

If that's the case, Vandeberg set off a thermo-nuclear device in the clone secondary.

Yes they will. Lazard is good but people need to come to earth a little bit. He's not incredibly dynamic and he does drop balls. Again, he's very good, but he's not elite at this point.

Hence "the besides that" comment.

What WR will they play that's better than Lazard this season? Darboh and Chessun for Michigan are really good but I think Lazard is better. Westerkamp for Nebraska is good too but Lazard is better than him.

AL went 4/75ish vs. Mabin, 1/10ish vs. Bower, 1/10ish vs. King, 1/13ish vs. Jackson.

On all but one of his catches vs. Mabin he ran either screens or very quick hitches. He had the fly pattern late for a nice 35ish yard reception but that's the only damage he did the entire game downfield. There were at least a few throws his way that Mabin did break up. And on the screen he broke long he got run down from behind by our 235 lb. LB. And there were at least three passes in his hands that he dropped.

AL is good. That's about it. He's scored 0 TDs in 8 quarters against Iowa, to say he "torched" anything is just silly.

Lazard graded out way better than Beathard by PFF. Good effort though. Nice touch with the "at least three dropped balls" line too

WR Lazard tries to carry offense with 111-yard receiving game

WR Allen Lazard had one of the few positive performances of the night for the Iowa State offense. Lazard finished with 111 yards on seven catches, forcing one missed tackle after the catch. He earned a 76.4 receiving grade despite two drops on 13 targets.
