**Official Iowa/Iowa State Prediction Thread**

Still not sure why most fans think Iowa will cover the point spread. History has shown that they will not. ISU will play a lot better this week since they really couldn't play much worse than last week. Iowa did not dominate Miami of Ohio the way the score indicated. This will be a much closer game than most people think.

I tend to agree with this. The spread (if it's still at 15.5) is just inviting an ISU cover at something like 28-17 or 30-20.

Iowa 48, State 6. We are way too inexperienced to be playing right now. Looks promising for 2-3 years though......if the players dont physically die in the mean time.

I don't have a clue what in the world was wrong with them, but I suffered through listening to the Iowa game on the radio while in the tractor Saturday. They have always been bad (or more like we are spoiled with Walters), but they were way worse then I ever remembered. Missed calls, wrong players, taking 10 minutes to correct themselves and rambling about their errors, didn't know the rules. Only favorable prediction for this game is this might be the beginning of the end to Dolphin and his buddy boy. They even screwed up the "Touchdown Iowa" that they had all year to prepare for.

I predict I'll be wearing Birkenstocks and pooping water at some point.

As for the game I won't guess the score but it's not going to be fun for us. Our offense isn't going to have the ball much which will be nice at least.

I actually think there's a scenario where ISU is competitive here.

If KF tells Phil he has the authority to be aggressive and send 5+ rushers on 20%-30% of snaps, I think Iowa will really hammer ISU, something like 44-17. I don't think ISU's defense will handle blitz pickup well and Lanning would get really harrassed and make bad decisions.

If, on the other hand, Iowa just tries to get pressure with four rushers with no blitzing, I could see Lanning getting comfortable and getting into a groove, at which point I could see a 31-28 type toss up game.

I definitely think this is the best Iowa offense of the last 10 years, so I think Iowa will almost certainly score more than 30 points (I actually think they'll score low to mid 40's if they're on the right side of the TO margin), the question will be if ISU can score with them. Considering the lack of talent ISU has on the OL, I don't think they can, but if Iowa gets too conservative on defense, I've seen that movie before...

It's too bad KF didn't sign a bigger extension

I am really looking forward to this matchup.

Really out of the norm for the Iowa coaches to do this. Usually the CB's stay on one side of the field and dont follow a WR.

Yeah, this is real surprising. Don't remember Iowa ever doing this before. Wonder how King will do by playing on the opposite side after playing three years on the same side.

Not sure that will make much of a difference.

Dont you get tired of posting the same thing in this thread that you did in the thread that was started on this topic in the football forum?

Not really because it's true. Embrace it, don't you want to beat your biggest rival?
