Because preseason rankings are worthless and it'd be an easy calling card for them to be locked in from the get-go. Disrespect goes a long way for competitors.

Well it's not fair to say that they always fail to live up to high expectations but they certainly have failed with some in the recent past; with football and with that other sport that you like talking about. No school lives up to high expectations year in-and-out though so it's pretty much okay. And to be honest it's fun to have those high expectations in the first place

I agree with that. This season has 8-5 written all over it IMO which seems crazy considering the schedule
