What's happened to Aunt Maudes? Not for the good.

Went to Aunt Maudes restaurant recently, and it has changed...not for the good. Prices have increased, and side salads that were included are now $4.00. In addition, if you want some bread, it's an additional $3.00. Food not as good as before, and this has always been our favorite place in Ames. Surprise when the bill came. High prices, less food and not as tasty. We were told that if they charge for salad and bread, there will be less waste. What a dumb excuse for raising prices. Are there new owners?

One place I've never went to in Ames, guess I'm in no hurry to go there now.

Just went there tonight. Been a regular customer for years. It has changed and agree not for the better. They were known for there french onion soup and for some dumb reason changed the recipe a couple years ago, just ruined it. Knew they started charging for bread and salads a while back. Quit complementary homemade chips at the bar. So far bloody marys are still good. Too bad really.

I always go on "Patio wednesday", usually pretty reasonable deal on the special. Everything I have had there recently has been good.

If we are complaining about restaurants changing, I'd like to be upset about Wallabys leaving West Ames.

Wallabies, another wayyyyy over rated restaurant that I don't get the love for. My only guess is Ames lack of other choices.

I came to CF to see where I should go out to eat tonight but it turns out everywhere sucks and is overrated.

Wallabys is much better after moving from the looks of it. I don't know about Maudes because I always sit at the bar when I'm there. A lot of new places are still to come and I think we'll see more food trucks coming to Ames as well. Still could use a privately owned steakhouse if someone is interested in getting into the competitive restaurant biz. Texas Roadhouse was packed last time I went and they're not serving prime steaks

The cafe is still a great option. Most my friends say it's the best restaurant in Ames. Same owners as Maudes I believe
