This is one of those threads that make me want to push a new policy out there. When you have an idea for a thread, go ahead, write it up. Then, take a nap, sleep on it and have a cup of coffee or two to help you sober up. Then read your post again. If it still looks like a good idea, go ahead and post it.

I just doesn't appear that Fred liked recruiting. His high school recruits for the most part flamed out and he was too relied on transfers. I know he had a couple of HS guys do well but more left than stayed. Prohm appears to like recruiting and likes the college life. I would have loved to have Fred become the next Coach K but it wasn't in his DNA.

jsb saying he didn't like it here may be off base but the guy looked into the Minnesota job. Either he did that to leverage a raise or he did it because he wanted the job. I don't blame him for it nor do I blame him for leaving but Fred didn't have the view of ISU that people think he did. Sure, he loved being here, but this wasn't ever his intended endgame at any point in his career here and not believing that is foolish.

Yes, I fully realize I've been sucked into the trap.

I feel like Fred coming to ISU was basically him challenging himself to see if he could find success in a sink or swim situation.

I spoke to someone who lives in Ames this past winter who said the craze over him was over the top and it was a matter of time either way. Not saying that's completely true, but that wouldn't always be great.

The Hoiberg era is over. Prohm did some nice things with a team with ego issues and key injuries to have them, at times, playing about as well as ISU had played in the past two seasons.
