No. He's doing it so he is eligible for the D league if he can't make it in to college.
No. I'm not saying he won't possibly have a spot in the NBA but unless he really kills it in workouts, the odds are low of him getting drafted.
Honestly I think if he isn't cleared it will be based in eligability not academics. If they rule his clock started when he took some classes at "college" in Australia before coming to the US his eligability will have expired before he ever got to play. If that were the case it would be truly tragic as he has gotten nothing bit a runaround and gone through a ton of hardship for 4 years trying to play.
Yep. Guys get drafted based on their potential all the time, but those guys are also usually coming off a year either in the Euro pro leagues or the NCAA. Malou's been off the radar for awhile and I doubt any team would take a flier on him without seeing how he stacks up against elite competition first. Unless, like you said, he absolutely blows a team away in an individual workout.
I didn't think the "clock" started at High School graduation, I thought I started at college enrollment.
There have been numerous people who played major/minor league baseball right out of high school only to go to college later and still compete. See Chris Weinke for example.
Yeah Hinds has it wrong. The issue is he took a couple classes in Australia right out of HS that started his clock.
I went to high school with a couple of people who took a few college classes starting their high school junior year. Does that mean that they would have 2 years gone from their 5 to play 4 clock before they even graduated from high school? If they aren't taking enough to be considered full time and eligible it doesn't seem like it should be enough to start their clock.
He followed bad advice took some classes at a community type college in australiain to beef up his academic credenials came to abcd prep wasted a couple years went back to Australia went JUCO in California and Iowa. This is his 5th year out of high school and his fifth year since he enrolled in a post HS course. He has been lied too and screwed over for 5 years. Honestly if the NCAA screws him after a 5 year journey sleeping on the floor trying to play college ball when he could have been getting paid in Australia to do the same and get here it will be one of the saddest stories. Really feel for him. I really hope it all works out but someone should write about his journey. NCAA needs some pressure. He was scammed for 3 years he should have gone JUCO from the get go.

I agree and that's what they will rule on. Given his situation it truly would be wrong to deny him. He was a victim of circumstance.
