Big dance: hok edition. #7 hoks v #10 hooters

Hawks struggled with a team more deserving of a 13 seed than a 10. But a win is a win.

If Villanova wasn't known for choking in the first weekend of every tournament, there would be no reason to expect Iowa playing past this weekend. As it is, they had an absolutely fantastic path to the Sweet 16 for a 7-seed.

Nova is overrated. I fully expect Iowa to win Sunday

Clemmons fouled a guy on a 3 point shot with 2 seconds left. Temple player hits all 3 FTs to send it to OT. Woodbury pushes off on the buzzer beating layup.

Thanks. That seems like a bonehead move, their radio guy that hates him must have gone off the chain.:twitcy:

When the chips are down, whar Uthoff?

Hoping he has finally seen the last of Mad Frannypants.

Yikes

Looks like a choke hold. Probably just missed the aim for the eyes.

No idea, I knew with 15 seconds that this was their play and the shot was as terrible as expected. At least Iowa had a plan for the wild miss.

If Gesell had drawn iron they wouldn't have had time for the put back. The play must have been called "Airball."

Wow. Temple should have been shooting free throws with 0.5 seconds left to win the game. I cringe when refs decide to swallow their whistles in the last seconds because they don't want to decide the outcome of the game. The game should be called the same for all 40 minutes.

they've had lots of practice at attempting to rebound a terrible last second shot by Gesell.

It really wasn't though. My brother and one of my best friends are die hard hawks and didn't question the call but instead cussed out ol brain fart clemmons for committing the foul.

it was a foul, and the only bigger boneheaded play with under 5 seconds left that I saw this tournament was the Purdue player who held the ball with five seconds left to play instead of trying to score.

Iowa was the better team. They were (what seemed) in control most of the game. They Iowa'd the game away down the stretch, but Woodbury saved the day (what push-off? lol).

Big play was Uthoff fouling that 55% FT shooter with 20 seconds left. Temple would have had the last shot for the win otherwise.

I guess if Michael Jordan gets the benefit of pushing off with one arm, a great like Woody can get away with a two arm push off; with t-rex arms, you need to use both of them.

Looking at it more I can see the no call. With as short of arms that Woodbury has, it can be tough to tell whether he's extending his arms when pushing off. His arms fully extended probably look like most guys spacing with a forearm to the back.

:jimlad: if not obvious

Then a foul should have been called on the dude guarding Mike on his ****** last shot. Just as much "contact" as Clemons' dumbassery.

Poor Woodbury - he's so maligned and misunderstood! I've never seen them, but supposedly an Illinois fan put together a photo montage of Woody cheating on jump balls, which resulted in the Big Ten taking action. There are probably still photos of his famous eye poke escapades. He must have a dozen of so of these moments - I'd buy a Woodbury's greatest moments calendar as a gag gift for my hok-lovin' friends & neighbors!

Well you are right there - Hok Bball = boring

I am very pleased with the extension this will get Fran, will be 2 years, should be 5

You're pleased a guy who has taken Iowa to 3 straight NCAA appearances, something that has happened only twice in ISU's history, would get extended?
