Iowa finished T-3rd in the Big Ten and was three seeds lower than the T-5th team in the Big 12
Actually my only hope for a final four is Iowa State. Because IDGAF what the other teams in the Big 12 do in the tournament. Their success has nothing to do with ISU.
Oklahoma has a better draw than Kansas and a legitimate chance to be in the last 4.
MSU is the only Big 10 team that has a realistic chance, it is very rare for any team outside of a top 4 seed from each region to get into the third weekend.
Hope for what? Will they bring ISU along with them? My only hope and care is for Iowa State to do well. If another Big 12 team has a deep run or doesn't has no bearing on ISU, nor do I care. I'm actually all for Kansas losing first round.
I've never understood the "our conference" love, It doesn't make your team better, if another team from your conference makes a deep run and your team lost early, who cares? One or two teams don't make a conference.
If you are going to make the argument that a couple of teams in the Final Four makes your conference better, it goes both ways. Half of the Big 10 wasn't good enough to make the NCAA, what does that say?
Many fans enjoy basking in the reflected glory of the other teams from their conference. It's a coping mechanism.
Not for basketball. Football a lot of us including myself will use it as a crutch on why we can't win conference games though
