Guessing this is already a thread and I'm just late to the party but I'm wondering about Lard's eligibility for 2016... So it looks like the investigation into Lard's move to the New Orleans area is going to begin next week. If the LHSAA determines that there was no "undue influence" involved his move will he be able to play next year and if so do we even have roster room with Naz staying on for the 2016 season? From what I can tell we don't have any scholarships left to give.

Based on tweets from Travis Hines, this review does not/will not affect his eligibility at Iowa State. It has nothing to do with academics. It appears to be a coach that doesn't want him transferring into their league.

Tweet I'm referring to:

This specific story? Probably not a lot to Iowa State as it doesn't effect his academics. Basketball only.

Justin Yetmar @yetmarj@TravisHines21 what does it all mean?

I think the Louisiana investigation has nothing to do with collegiate eligibility. They have no influence or jurisdiction on the NCAA.

It's purely to determine if he's eligible to play this season for his new HS.

He also has NCAA eligibility concerns and many people have speculated that he will have to head to Juco.

I would mentally cross him off your list for next year, and hope that we can get him out of Juco.

That's what I've been hearing too. Just didn't know what would happen on the off chance he was at ISU next year since we already have 13 scholarships slated for use in 2016. Can he even come?

Just a guess, but I think Jordan Ashton's scholarship will be considered a 1 year deal, so he will open up one spot that they will try to use on a grad transfer big, or in case Lard becomes eligible somehow. Then we could potentially have one open if Monte keeps playing the way he has and blows up into a 1st round pick.

Doubt we take a scholly away from a guy who is playing Big12 minutes right now.

I would take the opposite side of that bet. Next year is next year, and we will have Thomas, Naz, Cooke, Babb and Long at SG. I love what Ashton is giving us, but it's a numbers game and I don't see us tying up half of our scholarships at the 2 guard spot.

Ashton will contribute more than Babb.

Ashton will contribute more than Babb.

Babb has been getting a positive remarks from Prohm recently about his play in practice... Remember he was a top 150 player who originally went to Arkansas, he has talent.
I am pretty confident Babb will be higher in the rotation than Ashton next year.

Babb averaged 5 mpg and .7 ppg last year

What did I miss...why won't Lard be at ISU next year? Is he coming for 2017 or not at all?

I believe this is correct.....no inside info.
