SOURCE- Campbell signs with ISU

Well they do have a bigger budget and by far the nicest campus of the three. However they are a basketball school and have by far the worst football facilities in the Big 12.

I'm not sure how you can say "By Far" the nicest campus. ISU's campus is comparable to some of the best and I've been to a lot, including KU. KU does have a nice campus for sure, but ISU does as well, KSU.... no.

I remember an awful lot of Iowa fans, including Mr Miller, who thought the Kf hire was horrible. I mean how could you possibly hire a A guy after the great Hayden Fry who was a HC from Maine and a few years as Oline coach in NFL? Oh I recall a ton of people in Iowa city who were livid.

They all wanted Stoops. Ferentz looked like a total failure of a hire in comparison.

There's a long list of bad hires that worked out and good hires that failed. Chizek and McDermott were seen as great hires. A lot of people thought Fred was a desperate hire.

What it really goes to show is that it is really just about impossible for any of us to know if this hire will work out or not. The two main drivers of success (imho) are the drive/ambition and intelligence of the person. And let's face it, none of us really have any insight on that with CMC or any hire. About the only thing we can see that might tie to that is prior history of success/winning.

We all have our preferences about HC experience, system, etc etc. None of that really matters as much as intelligence and and almost pathological desire to succeed.

Ayeni will probably tell Campbell who are the keeper coaches.
Toledo playing at JTS showed Matt the fan enthusiasm and the facilities.
$800k from Toledo is still low ball.
Good timing for Matt.
Better game management?

And it totally validates the Rhoads announcement coming a week before the last game so they could get this moving early. Campbell was clearly in demand - Mizzou was at least taking a look, UCF had interest, Toledo wanted to tie him down, and as bigger names like Fuente go off the board, other programs like South Carolina or Maryland might have moved on to him before we had a chance.

Good job Leath and JP, now let's hope this works.

Early Cy Bird gets the worm.

Glad Ayeni is staying. I hope we can keep Study as a position coach but I doubt it. He will probably want an OC job somewhere.

You lost me right there. They have blown all the expectations for them since they have joined the SEC out of the water. They have been a very good team for over a decade now, and place a ton of guys in the NFL.

The same week of their short lived strike over campus racial issues, they had a better win then ISU has had in the past few years now. Let's be honest. It is pretty obvious the entire "Missouri is now a terrible job" talking point that is getting repeated on here is groupthink from people who hold certain strong political views. I know its been repeated a bunch to you so you believe it now, but the football program did not suffer a fatal blow. The average MU fan or football fan in the state of Missouri has pretty much forgotten about it by now.

I'm sure the 2016-2017 recruits are just banging the doors down at Mizzou, waiting for an offer. Can't wait to experience campus life:twitcy:

Congrats to JP on an excellent hire and welcome coach Campbell.....BTW, this will be my 8th Football coach as a Cyclone fan!

I can tell Toledo where to get their next HC - go get Willie Fritz if they can get him. Excellent coach with proven winning track record - he will get them the MAC championship they want and beat NIU as well. I hope we hired Gary Pinkel and not Tim Beckman.

Everyone is getting excited on a bunch of hope. (and hype)

To put this hire into perspective just remember.....That our Illustrious AD Max Urick turned down Bill Snyder and Glen Mason and Hired Jimmie Dean Walden....How did that turn out? Zero wins in 1994.......

Hopefully Campbell can take us to the upper half of the conference every 3 or 4 years and also to a darned good bowl game

Welcome to ISU Matt ............

Good take.

If ISU is anything it is consistent, consistently hires the wrong football coach - hope this hire breaks that cycle.

Mac was a good hire. He had junk for everything when he started and build the program up to being respective. He just failed at building on his success. Chizik did bring good players to ISU, just too bad he failed in the coaching aspect. CPR is what ISU needed at the time. He again failed to build on his success, some was in his control other things were not.

To those of you bashing JP or the hire because we didn't take our time and interview more candidates . You do realize JP knew at the beginning of the season this was a possibility, and am sure had a list of a few guys he would like to see here. Then spent the whole season evaluating this short list. We didn't settle for Matt Campbell, we stole him from everyone else who wanted to interview him.
