So what do you want to get this year for Christmas? What sort of materialistic stuff will make you a happier person come December 25th?

I am tempted to ask for one of these.

What do your kids want? I want to make sure I know what all the cool toys are this year so I can get them for my kids so they and everybody else knows how good of a parent I am.

I made a list of links for our 2YO. Definitely a Dr Kit and cooking toys. I also listed some Peppa Pig toys.

For us, I think I listed restaurant gift cards and clothing ideas.

Everyone in our immediate family is 30+ now so about ten years ago we decided to instead of gifts pool our money and give to the wounded warrior project.

That's an awesome idea. My siblings and I are getting to the age where it is just a gift card exchange it seems....maybe we should do this instead.

Props to you!

Helping the vets is a great cause, but do some research about the WWP. I've heard the money doesn't exactly go where you would expect.

You should have waited to post this. Now nobody wants to follow this with something selfish! Great idea though.

If anyone asks what I want, I usually ask them to surprise me with a 6-pack of something they like and then make them have one with me. After a certain age, you end up buying whatever you want anyway. Either that or if it's something that if I can't afford, I can't expect someone else to buy it for me either.

My 8 year-old is getting a trip to Disney as her gift. She then asked if Santa will know where we're at so he'll know where to drop the presents. :skeptical:

I'm thinking her present from Santa may be the gift of knowledge that he's not real.

Your 8 year old is clever as heck.

Just purchased new furniture for my living room, and I asked for some throw pillows as a gift. I then felt sad.

Pretty much my thoughts on the matter! Hell, I don't even remember the last time anyone asked me what I wanted, booo.

Anyway, towards the top of my (own) list this year:
- Grey ISU zip up hoodie I saw at Scheel's last week
- Sphere ice molds for my whiskey
- Tickets to the Big 12 tourney

I'm really a simple man with simple pleasures.

I'll take cash, preferred stock options, or cash.

A few years back, I tried suggesting exactly this for our family. I thought we'd all draw someone's name, and then donate to a charity we thought might mean something to them. (We'd been doing gift cards for years.) It didn't get any traction, but I still love the idea.

1. Family Health
2. World Peace (But don't give into ISIS)
3. Veterans honored and taken care of they should (at all cost)

4. ISU in Final 4 (Willing to wait till March for present)
5. FB Coach hired that is "All In" for Cyclone Nation (Might come early, like when we let kids open 1 present week early, usually new pajamas and movie)
