After looking at our front court depth, why doesnt Prohm look at Jhuastin Thomas. He was committed to play both bball and Fball at SC. He also played both in JC. He even dunked over Andre Drummond in high school. I think it would be a good option.

I agree that we should look into it for the back-up post depth. The only two players known to man to ever drunk over Drummond are Jhuastin & Highway__30. Both probably will have similar nba pro careers.

I would rather see him get a great off-season under his belt with football, and dominate on the DE side next year.....

Because he needs the off-season to get stronger for football. Playing basketball wouldn't allow him to go through winter workouts.

JJJJJFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCcc!!!!!!!! We're about to be a Top 5 team in the country. GFD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If he was using his last season of football eligibility then you'd have a point and it would possibly already be something Phrom and Rhoads would have discussed. But he isn't. So it ain't happening.

Well, ok then. I thought it was at lease a interesting point of discussion.

There's no reason to add him to the bball team. We have Stu, that's all we need.

Let Thomas focus on football.

Actually I was thinking of this the other day. It's not a bad thought. It's not like, the guy has never played bball. He's decent. Hell he'd prob be first guy off bench for many teams. I don't think he'd have to switch to a bball schollie..he could just walk on.

Seriously doubt hed add more than what Carter/Ernst/Burton platoon combo would bring. Also the freshman need to gain some experience for later this year and next. I am less worried about the front court depth than some.

There is zero chance Rhoads is letting a key contributor to the football team play basketball, miss part of off-season conditioning & spring ball and risk injury.

Zero.

Fun hater, I guess that ends that conversation.

This is what I was going to post. He wouldn't add much more than we already have and would take away from his football development. Doesn't seem worth it to me.

Yeah he's got all those valuable bowl workouts that the football team is going to be engaged in lol

this is a great idea and would provide the desperately needed bench muscle we need

JFC we just blew a scholly on a kid who isn't ready to contribute at all much less next year ( goes for both post players)

really preferred Fred bringing in guys who were prepared and not going the McDermot development route with guys not worth a scholly till their junior or senior years

Yeah I bet winter workouts and that Arena ball professional football career would be hurting if he doesn't get in and bang iron with that top 25 football team

lol you guys crack me up

I think it is an interesting idea, and probably feasible. His off-season training would no doubt have to be adjusted but I'm pretty sure the S&C people could fill something out.

I think CPR might allow it. The only reason not to really is the possibility of an injury. Don't forget Stevie Johnson. He was allowed to play football his final year here, and then came back to the MBB team and made a major contribution to what (to date) was ISU's best team and best season.

Not true. Stevie played 4 years of BB (99-00 was his Sr. BB year), then still had another year of school left so he played football in the fall (2000) after his basketball eligibility ran out.

How do you even know he'd be better than "those guys we blew a scholly on"?

"really preferred red bringing in guys who were prepared and not going the McDermot development route with guys not worth a scholly till their junior or senior years"

What the hell does this paragraph even mean? I have a sneaking suspension "red" is a typo, and you meant Fred, in which case you are completely lost.
