"Manager guy" 00clone has to sit in a meeting and not giggle while one of the other participants is repeatedly talking about all of the 'backdoor stuff' he's having to do to make things happen.

You are just proving that you are Michael Scott management material.

We'll take ya. There's always room.

Cooler gives me permission. My excuse will be that I lived in KS for a couple years and would drive past the stadium on my way to/from Iowa.

I'm a sucker for that kinda stuff. Too many people focus on the negative aspects of society when, in fact, there are plenty of good people around. They just don't draw attention to themselves.

So I mentioned the men's retreat over the weekend. This was a stay overnight thing from Friday night until Sunday afternoon. There were women from the parish who volunteered to serve meals...every meal was great. Saturday night they did a really nice meal with servers, etc. We had them come out at the end of the meal and they got a standing ovation from 30-50 men at the retreat. Several of them were tearing up just from getting the applause....they got a better round of applause than any of the speakers did. They thought it was no big deal what they were doing, but yet here us men were not having to worry about a thing with regard to food, other than wondering how much weight we were gaining.

Welcome to my world when daily conversation includes Reefer(s) and "hot load(s)".

Weekend Superdad brag. Yesterday, after finishing up leaf-raking for the 142nd time this fall, I came inside to start cooking. My daughter wanted spaghetti and I was up for a pretty straight-forward easy meal. I get the noodles boiling, brown the meat, cut up the mushrooms and onions (cuz there are never enough) and go to get the spaghetti sauce from the pantry.

****, no sauce

My wife is balancing the checkbook, hears me grumbling and asks me if I want her to run to the store really quick. I'm like, "Nope, I got this."

I go outside, get the remaining tomatoes from our plants (plus a bell pepper and a jalapeno for good measure) and decide to make my own red sauce. I've never made a red sauce before but I figured it couldn't be that hard. I didn't look at a recipe at all, but I friggin nailed it! Fresh ingredients ftw.

Better yet, I woke up this morning and so did my wife and daughter. No casualties! Fist pump!

I'm gonna be somewhat of a soccer snob and tell you guys you need to get an EPL team. So much more exciting.
I'd say unless you're a huge soccer fan who can really tell the difference in quality it doesn't really matter. The level of excitement from the fans is higher, but teams like KC, Portland, and Seattle do a great job of that.

There are other positives and negatives too: the promotion/relegation aspect is cool, but in those leagues there's at most 2-4 teams who have any sort of shot of winning the title. And (and this is a big one for me), you'll rarely have any kind of connection to the team or area.

I've gotta admit that since I've started following soccer over the past 10 years, I really get its draw. Going to a couple games in person pretty much sealed the deal for me.

A friend and I were talking about how dumb it was for the NFL to schedule games in London. The "home team" loses the revenue and competitive advantage of an actual home game. The NFL gets a good turnout for one game, but it's silly to think that they are going to get much of a foothold over there.

Eh, personal preference . I'd actually prefer to watch it over football because that's a lot more just standing around and it isn't as exciting for me.

And this isn't directed at you, but I hate when people come into soccer conversations just to say that it sucks. I feel like it happens a lot more than in other sports. And it also doesn't make you a better "man"

I hated soccer until my polish neighbor in the dorms taught me the strategy and rules behind soccer. Now that I understand it so much better I absolutely love it. Its easy to hate on something you don't understand I get it thats human nature. Maybe try reading up on it a bit before you blow it off (thats assuming you don't already understand it). You never know. You might actually like it!
