Official 2015 Hoiberg NBA Speculation Thread

Hey everybody, give us draft picks for a coach we want to fire!

Breaking News: The Bulls front office has again handled a personnel matter horribly.

The Bulls really put the bull into bs. This process has just furthered my disdain for them. The longer it goes, the more it hurts our program, but I understand that isn't a priority for anyone involved.

For those of you that like to read into tweets:

Georges Niang 12 min ago
"You're the driver of your bus, and as the driver, you are the one who must also choose our vision of where you want to go"

I'm so confused by everyone thinking Fred is trying to leave this program in a great position. He hasn't signed a high school recruit (before Nosky) in two years, he has been staying silent on this since he got out of the hospital, he's leaving after a loss to UAB, and before a season that could be the most successful in Iowa State history. Not to mention after next season, even with Fred it was looking bad, and now without him...

I assume if Fred stays at this point it's because all the parts couldn't come together rather than Fred turning the Bulls down.

I just hope we all look back on this thread in October and chuckle at our foolishness. I mean hell, this this would make for some seriously good sig quotes.

Naz Long 2 Hours ago:

"New Day, new opportunities. Good morning and God bless." #CarpeDiem

Seems pretty generic to me. I don't think players are tweeting out cryptic messages about Hoiberg if they know and he asked them to keep it quiet. Idk, I feel like Georges and Naz tweet that kind of stuff a lot.

What great coach is going to want to follow THE MAYOR. None. Otz is back for a reason.

Anyone you or I would consider a "Great Coach" probably isn't going to leave their current gig to come to ISU. I'd say the gates are open on pretty much everyone else that isn't a Blue Blood or that's not locked into a contract with a solid P5 team already. We weren't going to get any of them anyways. I'm pretty sure there are a lot of proven "Good" coaches out there, especially not tied to a P5 conference, that would jump at the opportunity to come to Ames, especially with the team we have coming back. It's not like because of the new coach Fred had to leave or was forced out by management.

I agree with you that Otz is back for a reason, I just don't agree with you on your reason for him being the only choice. Hell, Otz could be a great fit for next season, but to say no one would want the ISU job is a bit of a stretch. We have proven in the past we can get coaches and I would say the program is in it's best position ever to have it's pick of coaches.

Back to back Big 12 tourney champs, preseason top 10, 4 NCAA tourney appearances in a row....

So you really think that if he had made up his mind that he was staying at ISU he wouldn't of stated so already? Come on, take your blinders off.

Fred isn't going to comment on a job that isn't open. The day or the day after Thibs is no longer employed as the head coach of the Bullz we're going to hear something either way. You need to get some professionalism in your life.

Unfortunately it probably won't be this easy. There is some speculation that if Fred leaves and TJ is hired there will be players considering transferring out.

I can't think of anyone who would transfer, outside if GT, who I already said I think is gone? Hallice and Nader may not have a relationship with TJ, but I can't see them transferring again, and both should be key players for us...McKay, Georges, Naz, Matt, Monte, Deonte, all have strong ties with TJ and apparently love being Cyclones, and all but Matt and Deonte are probably in their last year.....you really think those guys may leave?

If Fred was staying at ISU, yesterday was going to be the day to say so. The fact there still no word from Fred today makes it official; the sooner we all come to grips with reality the better. If Hoiberg doesn't end up with the Bulls, he will be hired by Orlando or Minnesota or New Orleans. He's clearly burned out by the college game and needs a change of scenery for whatever reason.

His heart surgery and Paige graduating are clear milestones for starting a new chapter and a fresh challenge. Let's wish him well and hope ISU basketball can land on its feet after this goes down. We have a one-year window to hire the right guy, have a successful season, and transition effectively to the next era.
