As a state, is Kansas obsessed with basketball? KU fans are certainly obsessed with their own self-image of being a great NCAA program, but I don't sense the whole state is obsessed with basketball anything like Indiana is.

I live in Kansas and yes KU homers are obsessed with KU Basketball. Their football program is a complete afterthought. And it's very similar to University of Iowa in that most of their fans didn't even go to school in Lawrence.

I know we like to take shots whenever we can, but when you are successful - the most successful in your state or region, you are going to get a lot of bandwagon fans. We can only hope that we experience that beyond having a bunch of farmers who listen to the Cyclones on their tractor radios while working in the fields. They are great fans, but as a group they don't have the means to be donors of impact. To keep up with the Joneses ISU needs the Benjamins.
