Bowl or Bust

Why did I read all of this? I could have stopped. I should have stopped. 3 wins this year...

Predicting that we won't have a successful season isn't negative, it's just our reality right now, we have not been a successful football team recently, or ever depending on how you judge it.

Personally, I think the "positivity" you're posting is the same "positivity" that every team has before every season, the new guys look so good, the returners have more experience, I really think these certain guys can make a difference, so on and so forth. It's just talk, it doesn't mean anything, nobody knows who's going to work out and who isn't. I'm looking at results, we've had poor results, when we see something on the field to indicate better results, then I'll be a lot more positive.

You STILL have not explained to me the benefits of Negativity to our Football Program.

So your hope is that we have a poor season so CPR gets fired and we get a new head coach?

Nope. My hope is that we have a great season.

Where negativity comes into play for me is that when things go south, negativity is what gets the point across to the AD. Empty seats and decreased revenue streams make it clear that things need to change. We haven't reached that point, but when it starts to happen, JP will have to finally do something about it. When that does happen, hopefully we get a good coach this time. Sort of how Mississippi got a good one. And Duke. Eventually we'll get one that will raise our expectations from the current standard of a .500 season being a "great" season.

So it's different because last year we didn't have any guys coming in that we were excited about? We didn't have any returning players that would have experience? I believe last year most people were expecting 4-6 wins too, do you remember how that turned out? You're talking about a lot of unknown quantities here, not all of them are going to pan out just because they have lots of potential.

Last year we had a lot of new coaches, a lot less experience, and an absurd amount of injurys. Not many schools besides like Alabama could look good with that injury problem.

First I'd have to think that positive or negative outlooks on the season that I post on cyclonefanatic matter to the team, but they don't. Second I don't form my opinions on the season by how it benefits the team anyways, my opinions are my own based on recent performance.

You act like that is definitely going to happen. No one knows if that will even occur. Let's say we have modest success. By modest success, I mean 6 to 7 wins per season, for the most part. Occasionally a 4 or 5 win season along with an 8 win season possibly 9 win season occasionally. Would you fire CPR?

Nothing wrong with having opinions. But if your opinions are meant to discourage people from buying tickets for Cyclone Football then that is harmful to the program and harmful to our Athletic Department.

You still have not explained the benefits of being negative. It appears there are no benefits.

You're not there handing out orange slices at half-time?

Not even going to play this bizarre little game with you. There has been absolutely nothing to indicate the ability to get an 8- or 9- win season under this head coach. If it happens, I'll be amazed.

It all depends on ourOline this year and if Richardson can find his open receivers.

Hopefully having Mangino with one 1yr exp. under his belt will help the offense.

My goal for the team is easily obtainable: Win 4-5 games this season. I want to see some heart from the players. Show us you care about the program as much as the fans do. Quit boo-hooing over how tough the conference is and fight back.

How do you get that my opinions are meant to stop people from buying tickets? I bought tickets myself.

Let me try to say it yet again. There are no benefits for the team for us being either positive or negative with our opinion of the season that we post here. Your positivity doesn't have benefits and my negativity doesn't have benefits, although I personally don't feel I'm being negative to say that I don't think we win many games, just realistic.

It's crazy that people don't understand how common it is to not have the system down your first year with a coach. How common it is to react slow your first time playing. How much losing your starters/depth hurts a team.

I just don't see 6 wins under Rhoads anytime soon. We have to win the entire non-con and manage to beat 3 teams in the Big 12.

IMO, we have a real shot at winning our non-con schedule. Knock off Kansas, TTU and possibly OSU. K-State seems to have our number. But they do lose Waters and Tyler Lockett as well as Ryan Mueller. WVU lost Kevin White. Texas has seemed beatable. I see 4 wins reasonably definite. 5 wins probable. 6 wins possible. Stars need to line up and good things happen for better.

I'd rather win 0 games this season and CPR get canned then win 2 or 3 games this year. Ideally we would win every game though.

Maybe the last two season have severely dampen my expectations as I keep telling myself these big 12 teams are beatable, but we always get stomped when we play them. I love cyclone football though, I will always cheer for the program.

LOL. Negativity on CF almost led to Nigel Tribune not coming to Iowa State. Don't sit there and say that Negativity has no effect. It has a ripple effect that permeates a fanbase. And then discourages them.

You bought tickets yourself. Then why not just simply say nothing. Why the constant repeating that "we will suck" and "I am not expecting anything from a team that has won 5 games in 2 years". What in the hell is up with that?

What is the reason behind that if you are not meaning to discourage people?
